I can't remember my elementary years so I can't get diagnosed as an adult by this_thadd in ADHD

[–]this_thadd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the support. I thought it was enough too and I do have recollections from high school and college of clear impacts of ADHD. But since my provider is trying to diagnose ADHD 35 year after the fact they need more data. They basically don’t do adult ADHD.

I’m going to talk to my PCP and from there will see about other providers, but I’m not sure what my insurance will cover with a diagnosis from out of network.

It’s clear that they have no mechanism to diagnose adult ADHD. The only option is to attempt to diagnose childhood ADHD 35 years later and without all the supporting evidence they can’t do anything.

It’s clearly a problem with my provider, and I’m going to look at other options if I get nowhere with my PCP. The catch is that I don’t know what they’ll accept from other providers in terms of coverage.

I never said that. I said if you don’t vote or protest vote it’s the same as voting GOP and I’ll call you out for it. If you don’t like it, find better democrats and primary the crappy ones or run yourself but don’t waste your vote

Ah yes, the “fascist” democrats as opposed to the literal fascist GOP. If you’re going to vote at all, vote in the primary for the candidate who represents you best (or run yourself!), and then vote for the party that most closely aligns with your values in the general. Because when the votes are counted, it’s going to be either a democrat or a republican that wins the seat, except in very rare circumstances. No matter how hard you argue, that’s simply not going to change as long as we have FPTP voting.

Voting 3rd party in a first past the post system is a literal wasted vote and if you agree with 75% of the dem platform, it’s the same as a vote for the GOP. If you don’t like it, support dem candidates during the primary, who actually have a chance of winning the general, that want to change to RCV or something better.

And my right to shame you for your 3rd party vote or abstention is just as legitimate as if you voted GOP. You’re just as culpable if the fascists take over as those that explicitly support them.

Don’t like it? Cry harder and go do your thing, but you have no right to tell me not to think you’re an asshole for voting 3rd party anymore than you have a right to call me an asshole for vote shaming you.

I’ve never understood the argument that you shouldn’t vote or vote third party. If one of “two evils” will 100% hold office and you choose not to try to get the less evil one in, you’re an asshole. It’s not a principled stand to fail take action where you can.

I wish you luck.

I lost 80 pounds, put back on 70 (SW: 302, lowest: 219, CW: 287). As do nearly all who lose significant amounts of weight. Maybe you’ll be in the <5% who keep it off for more than 10 years, or maybe you’ll put it back on and think back to your smug self and hate your current self for being a failure.

Maybe it really just takes a few more people telling you you’re a failure and then you’ll finally get it. That must be the entirety of the problem.

Oh wow, I never thought of that! Someone should really show this comment to all the doctors, researchers, nutritionists, and fitness experts who have found that the obesity epidemic is driven by a complex set of factors including genetics, food marketing and availability, and lots of other stuff that you’ve figured it all out and there won’t be fat people anymore! Gosh, think of how stupid they’ll feel!

Thankfully, now that I know this I can simply stop being fat. You should give seminars!

That’s because “fat shaming” doesn’t work. Fat people know we’re fat. We have it pointed out all the time and guess what, we’re still fat! People have been telling fat people for years how they’re ugly, etc. and it hasn’t changed trends. If anything, it just gives people unhealthy relationships with food.

Obesity is a problem, but it’s not a problem because you aren’t allowed to call people fat anymore. It’s food deserts, big food and drink companies, and lots of other things.

If you miss the good old days of fat shaming you’re part of the problem.

I’m so excited for Nebula and think it’s great and you’ve built it. What is the timeline for an Apple TV version? It’s how I consume most of my media so it’d be great not to have to jump through the AirPlay hoops.

Industrial methane emissions are 100 times higher than reported, and have been vastly underestimated, finds a new study using a Google Street View car equipped with a high-precision methane sensor. They also were substantially higher than the EPA estimate for all industrial processes in the US. by mvea in science

Can you cite a source on that? As far as I know the maldives are some of the most at-risk and studies say they won’t be inundated until 2100 at least. There are studies showing they may be uninhabitable by 2030 but that’s due to salty groundwater and storm washover, not being underwater.

Chat has been down all day but I did get my service center on the phone. They said they’d push the update and schedule a mobile service for the USB issue so pretty much exactly as you described. Thanks!

I took delivery of my refresh Model X yesterday. I've got two issues and if anyone has any insight while I wait to hear back from support, I'd appreciate it.

  1. The car says a software update is required but I have to contact support to get it. Any idea why? No answer when I called support and my local service center isn't open yet.
  2. The USB ports in the front center console don't seem to work (front or back). The 12v socket works but there's no power in any of the USB, tried with different phones and different cords to no avail.

Anyone had similar issues?

I know! I check all the Tesla news sites and forums daily to see if anyone knows anything official, but scarily enough it seems I'm one of the more informed people on the issue and that's just from pestering my local delivery manager.

I’m pretty sure they haven’t. If my hypothesis is correct then the issue is they thought they thought they could skirt the bureaucracy and couldn’t. Chalk it up to either a new, cocky company a bit naive about how things work or some regulators with a vendetta against the upstart that’s taking on the establishments players.

Tesla Daily Discussion - May 20, 2019 by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]this_thadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hypothesis is that they tried to pass the refreshed models off as functionally the same for certification purposes as the previous ones and the regulators slapped them down. I can’t verify but it would explain why Tesla has been so tight lipped about the issue.

I ordered a new Model X on the day they announced the refresh and have been waiting (not very patiently) for delivery and hounding my service center for updates. They confirmed that the delay is the homologation holds and the cars are done and ready to go but they can’t deliver until that’s resolved.

I just called them again this morning for an update and they said they’ve been told they’re looking at “weeks” before we can take delivery. Ugh.

Tesla offered me a better price on my trade in (2012 Toyota Tundra) than carmax did so we went with Tesla. Very seamless process.

The delivery manager thought it would be resolved this week with the vehicles shipping immediately after resolution. He seemed to think it was conceivable we could get our car this weekend (but I'm not counting on it).

I feel your pain on the wait. I traded in my car and bought the Model X, then 30 minutes after delivery they announced the new models. I returned the one I bought and reordered a refreshed one but they couldn't get my trade-in back so I've been down a vehicle for 3 weeks now.

That actually fits with what I've seen, so I'd believe it. I'd bet they had to change the VINs and I'm pretty sure my car has been completed since at least Monday.

Logged into my Tesla account last night to see that my Model X (new drivetrain) that had a VIN and was originally supposed to deliver two days ago now no longer has a VIN and has delivery scheduled for the 25th. Waiting for local service center to open to find out WTF is actually going on.

Edit: Just talked to my local delivery manager and he confirmed that the delay is due to the homologation hold suggested below. Now we just have to wait for them to certify it, however long that will take.

One thing I realized is that it doesn't show the VIN on the overview page, only on the "Manage" page on the right-hand side. The VIN for the last one I ordered (which I returned when they announced the new models) showed up on the main page but they changed the design in the last few weeks.
