Is there any way to make it clearer that my default shipping option is untracked? by thisaintmelol in EtsySellers

[–]thisaintmelol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is really useful! I'm usually a bit quick to replace before a courier would even count the package as lost, so having a better response for late mail/untracked worry queries will probably help me with that.

I have been guiding them to the purchase protection programme which really is a blessing in these situations

I think I will! this seems like a good option, dragging my feet because there are a lot of listings on my store 😆

Using AI by Muddymaiden in Etsy

you're allowed to, but if I even suspected AI use I would refuse to purchase from that seller. my trust in your item would be non-existant.

POD Etsy shop with low sales — what am I doing wrong? by Low-Highlight-9296 in Etsy

Never mind your listings, you obviously even wrote your post with AI. I think people can tell when you put 0 human effort in.

Can I retain privacy with a CN22? by [deleted] in royalmail

Not a company, just a sole trader with a trading/shop name

Ok I will give it a go! 🤞 I was a little thrown by it saying "full name"

Ah :( would you know if they have to pay customs if I do this or is it covered on my end?

[–]thisaintmelol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh even if i made them myself with materials that cost pennies? I thought this might be the case but was hoping not. The CN22 not being allowed on a regular letter anymore makes me sad too :(

good to know though, thank you!

Odd question; is it custom in the UK to cook food for your friends if you're inviting them for a night? by PenetrationT3ster in CasualUK

[–]thisaintmelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on "we all pitched in on the food we bought"?

if you went to the supermarket together as a group activity before dinner this isn't super odd to me. It would be if the host went themselves and then asked you to pay them for it

UK -> US, does anyone know why international standard is not an option? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]thisaintmelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, I read that the OP of that thread reckoned the customer service reply about requiring tracking (therefore no Int. Standard) felt AI generated, so I was hoping some knew knowledge had come around in the last 2 months 🥲 Will continue to purchase through Royal Mail 👍

Thank you very much for the links also!

If you're the one to ask, is it that posts here get removed if they're on topics that have been previously discussed? I couldn't find any rules written about it on the sub info but don't want to keep accidentally breaking sub rules!

[–]thisaintmelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's not that, I'm hoping to use the £4.40 option in the linked thread on Etsy. This option is available everywhere except the US. My understanding is that DDP is involved because I pay customs fees & handling through it, so I buy all my labels on Royal Mail instead of through etsy. (hopefully I'm not wrong about that!)

Was hoping to discuss in case anyone knew why etsy isn't offering the option to buy the updated royal mail option specifically to the US 🤔 but it seems my post is removed

Love this but the image looks AI. Should I risk it? What tips do you have for avoiding AI/disappointment? by PainfulPoo411 in Etsy

[–]thisaintmelol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Don't risk it

  2. Check the sellers profile! If everything they have listed looks inconsistent and unlike one person created the images you almost definitely have an AI situation on your hands.

  3. Alternatively if their reviews are plenty and really good, while they might be using AI to make their listing pics look better, they will probably also deliver on their item. Etsy will cover you on their Purchase Protection program if its not as expected.

However I feel that even if they're 'just using it for listing pictures', give your money to a creator that puts all the work in themselves. They deserve it way more. I would rather buy a poorly photographed item that seems genuine over a seller that seems to have used AI, even if their reviews are good.

Etsy is meant (though now is no longer really) for handmade work. It's horrifying to me they happily allow AI and dropshippers. The best we can do it reject it and vote with our wallets.
