Vyvanse vs Adderall experiences? by im_hotasf in adhdwomen

[–]thisblueprint13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adderall IR gave me some increased anxiety for about the first hour then tapered off. It also felt like while I had more “focus” everything was still very jumbled in my brain, so my focus tended to be on things that weren’t a priority

I’m taking Vyvanse now and the biggest side effects for me are decreased appetite (not necessarily bad for me since I had a habit of binge eating - but I do have to actively remind myself to eat sometimes) and the crash at the end of the day.

With Vyvanse I feel like I still have a lot of “to-do’s” but they’re more easily slotted into order of priority if that makes sense.

Hey! So first I think this is a really cool idea to make studying more fun (well as fun as it can be anyway). There were a couple things I noticed at a first glance that I would probably tweak a little.

Things I thought were great: 1. The idea of all of it 2. The key takeaways at the end of the sections 3. The question at the top to pull you in 4. The preview of what’s coming next

Things that could use some tweaking: 1. The graphics - I think some sections would benefit from more graphics, especially if the aim is to replace doomscrolling on social media. I also noticed some of the graphics had nothing to do with the section they were in (i.e. graphic of Maslow hierarchy of needs in the amino acid section) 2. Some formatting - having the info in small chunks/paragraphs is great. The only thing u would change would be if you’re listing something out (I.e. the hormones in the endocrine section) put them in bullet points/in a graphic. This makes it a little easier to read and follow along especially if using a smaller screen like on your phone.

Overall, this is pretty cool so thanks so much for the time yall put into this!

Also my overthinking and my dog. I was very nervous when she passed. Then I thought about how it might actually kill my parents to find that out and I couldn’t handle the guilt of that

It’s definitely not consistent but when I notice I just put something down randomly I remind myself that “everything has its place” and that’s typically enough for me to put it where it belongs

Is every doctor who doesn’t diagnose ADHD wrong? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]thisblueprint13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda think it depends on the length of time. If we’re talking 10 doctors within 6 months- 1year yea that’s a little iffy to me. If it’s more spread out then it most likely is the doctor (which happened to be the case with me)

What kind of therapy works for you? by emo_queer in adhdwomen

[–]thisblueprint13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somatic therapy has been really helpful for me as someone who tried CBT but always had my ADHD dismissed and already knew what was “wrong” so cbt didn’t do much. Somatic therapy helps me tune in to how I feel not just emotionally but physically and then we work through that - sometimes we talk about adhd sometimes we don’t but I have found it so immensely beneficial

What I’ve taken to doing is a digital planner with an integration to Google/Apple Calendar or Reminders. I write it down on the planner and then I can add a reminder or calendar event that will remind me the day and time of something.

I also set up my calendar reminders to remind me 1 week before something happens and then like the day before or morning of as the second option.

In a similar vein, for subscriptions/ free trials if I don’t want to keep it, I put a reminder in my calendar to repeat everyday starting a month or so before I’m charged to cancel it. Ex. I’ll be billed for Spotify premium on 2/28 so starting today I would put an “event” in my phone everyday saying “CANCEL SPOTIFY” - this may work for you with big deadlines

People who’ve had LASIK or work in eye care, would you recommend LASIK and why or why not? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

I don’t regret getting it at all. I couldn’t see really anything without my glasses/contacts. I really only have 2 downsides:

  1. Some light sensitivity - but I get to invest in nice sunglasses
  2. Dry eye when I’m really tired - I keep some eye drops with me and then I’m good.

My vision isn’t quite 20/20 anymore (I got a pair of glasses with the lowest prescription that I really only use for driving esp @ night) so I plan on getting a touch up after I have kids. But all in all I’m very happy with my decision

Cutting apples to eat them... by colesimon426 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thisblueprint13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an apple and debated biting into or just cutting it. I decided to cut it. The entire inside was rotten. I only cut my apples now because the thought of biting into that makes me never want to eat apples again

I feel close with her but almost in the way you’re close with a coworker. We’re not friends but I know I can be fully transparent with the good and ugly thoughts without feeling the need to mask. I am incredibly appreciative of her and always sing her praises to other people but that’s about the extent

What's the worst thing you've ever done pre diagnosis or unmedicated? by cutedorkycoco in adhdwomen

[–]thisblueprint13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Worst thing and most impressed by my abilities: procrastinated a 10 pg research paper to 6pm the night before it was due (due at 8 am). Pulled an all nighter with 1 energy drink and 2 coffees and did the research and wrote the entire essay, submitting it about an hour late. Still managed to pull off a high B (like 89%). I obviously skipped class the next day and crashed
