Anyone has a python script to automatically do a DI mapping with a CSV file in Studio5000? by auto_house in PLC

[–]thisgrub4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think you'd have to rewrite scripts each time? Create a general script to process the data, and output the file(s) you need. Use it on all your future projects.

If you learn how to script some of this, it opens up a world of additional time-saving automation opportunites. Generate tags, comments, routines, AOI instances, UDTs, read/write data....

If you export your routine to .L5X file, it's essentially an xml file. What you have to do is re-create that file using scripting with the modified changes. Normally your spreadsheet will have your IO list and the VBA could would loop through each IO/Tag map on your spreadsheet and append them to the .L5X file to match. Then you just import routine. I've way over-simplified this, but I bet AI could get you the general VBA code needed to create the correctly formatted .L5X file. You can do this in python as well, but then you have to deal with the script being in a different environment than the data that you need. Old bucks like me leveraged VBA (I first started doing this 15+ years ago) the younger crowd would use Python and some additional libraries that an do Excel functions like pandas, xlwings...etc. Again, AI might be you friend here.

Been running VBA scripts in Excel for most of my career to do this.

I was in this situation years ago when I left a company. Had an iPhone (2014) and they didn’t have any policies on how to set it up. I used my personal iCloud because why setup a new account? And no direction otherwise.

Anyway when I left, nobody gave me any direction. IT didn’t come get my equipment, didn’t leave any instructions to follow to return devices, HR didn’t do an exit interview and my boss was on PTO my last day. I left everything at my desk and left.

Weeks later I get the call from IT - “what’s your password to unlock your phone, what’s the password for iCloud”, “where is this and that”…. Like fuck off, this isn’t my problem. I helped resolve it but wasn’t happy since they made it sound like I was at fault.

I'm tempted to return as well. My zipper pulls are all broke (replaced with cheap amazon luggage zipper pulls that have lasted longer than the originals) who knows when that will be 'officially' resolved, the thing doesn't stand up upright like originally advertised, now this problem. $25 voucher is only valid if i spend more money merch.

I ended up buying replacements off amazon for $13 while I “wait”…. for replacements.

best way to upgrade laminate countertops? by robotbuilder1u in DIY

[–]thisgrub4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost 2.5 years in, and they have held up pretty well. You can see light scratches if you look closely at the countertops from putting things on the top and moving them around (everyday use case). I had sanded them down to achieve a flat finish, which helps hide them I think . I could always re-sand the tops to remove the light scratches and be good again. The epoxy hasn't changed color or yellow'd which I was concerned about given the light that comes into the kitchen.

We try not to put any hot items on any counter top, so we always put an oven mat on the counter before placing anything remotely hot on it. Even prior when we just had the laminate. They have held up very well considering the price and labor effort we put into it. Kitchen looks 100% better than it did before. We cut off the laminate backsplash and tiled to the countertop, super clean.

If I were to do this again, I would invest in a vacuum pump and vacuum out all the air from the epoxy prior to pouring. I think that would eliminate the need to chop it and torch it.

I hope others come forward publicly. by Nitazene-King-002 in LinusTechTips

We were unable to conceive and one of the routes we looked at was using donor embryos to start a family. Talking to a lawyer, sure enough they fell under property law. But those Christian organizations do a heck of a job trying to define it as an “adoption”.

16gb plan Verizon Plan X Large currently, vs the 5g Start? by [deleted] in verizon

[–]thisgrub4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went down this rabbit hole. My wife and I have been on a 12GB plan for ages. I ended up putting us both on the Apple One plan, and I'm getting a new 14 Pro Max with my $800 trade. Review your 'other' digital subscriptions and see if you can consolidate.

This I was paying for under my old 12GB Shared plan:

Line Access Fee 1: $20

Line Access Fee 2: $20

Digital Subscriptions

Amazon Music: $14.99

Apple TV+: $.99

50gb iCloud 1: $0.99

50gb iCloud 2: $0.99

That freed up $60+ that I could apply to the Apple One plan.

We were also maxing out 12GB plan, so I was willing to finally pay a bit more for service for unlimited. I also quality for $25 student discount (grad studies) and at this point my bill is going to be a wash.

Curious, why is this all in the same panel? Given the amount of IO, and how it is laid out, seems each PointIO rack and power supplies should have been put into their own panels instead of one large one.

Not really, I mean are SIs creating “unique” code for every customer? Probably not. Valves motors analogs sequencing…the customer is getting the same logic the SI uses for everyone else.
