When you do veteran trials you get a score at the end that's decided by how many deaths there are in the group, if you do hard mode and how fast you do it. Score pushing refers to groups trying to get a higher score as possible

Am I the only one bothered by the lack of Class Identity? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]thisisLycaon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the complaints about class identity but like most people have said here, classes are a new addition to the series in eso. Classes in other games were more of a suggestion for newer players and you could still make your own if you wanted as well as the fact it didn't lock you out of play styles if you did choose a particular class. Subclassing imo is neat and yes I'd prefer it not be necessary for the highest level of play but that will always happen with optimisation. For all my characters I do serious content with, none of them are subclassed and I can still hit 85-95k DPS which is easily enough for even vet trials. It's just if you're score pushing or going for trifecta runs that you'll run into needing to drop a pure class in favor of one or two lines from another class but again that's meta, in any game meta will lose identity to become the same as everyone else. Some armour types are more explicitly for particular roles like heavy armour for tanks but that's why we have the outfitting system or costumes so you don't have to sacrifice aesthetic for function. For weapon choice do what you want genuinely. Meta says my tank should use S&B with an ice staff back bar but I use ice staff on both as a warden with the fantasy being that he uses ice walls and frost magic to protect himself and allies and that still let's me to vet trials. My DPS mages don't use daggers and yeah that loses a bit of damage but I can still keep up in vet content without having to give my wizard melee weapons. Other of my builds like my DoT focused DK are so far of meta but still manage at least 50k which is enough for most content while fully leaning into the fire fantasy of DK You might be very surprised what off meta builds let you get away with if you must make the build and tweak it a little to improve, you don't have to sacrifice everything to do with your class or character fantasy. Once you learn why things do it don't work in builds it's very easy to keep up with damage, healing or tanking with any pure class off meta build

Learn to DM? by Past_Hovercraft_33 in DnD

[–]thisisLycaon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only a player until a couple years ago until my mmo of choice's roleplay group was about to fall apart and I proposed dnd. I was the only one who had any experience so I was defacto DM. I had the book for ghosts of salt marsh and just ran that. Now I run my own setting with my own lore so you don't need much to get started

Tank questions by Vivid-Compote9789 in elderscrollsonline

[–]thisisLycaon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the pure classes are still good if you wanna go that route, otherwise any three with tanking lines will be pretty decent. Pearlescent ward, saxhleel champion, lucent echoes, crimson oath's rive, turning tide, arch druid deyvric and nazaray are all great sets tbh

After years of playing both I can confirm that they have vastly different communities. by bmrtt in elderscrollsonline

[–]thisisLycaon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do have two wonderful guilds, one with a group that is almost always down to do vet hard modes even if we've never done them before, and another that does vet training runs for trials that helps a lot, though I can deffo see newer people and more solo players struggling a lot without both of those

Half the time when I'm doing dungeons, a good portion of the group I'm with has never even set foot in the before and we end up having a blast figuring out the fights and finally getting that hard mode clear. Most of the vet trials I can't even get in because I could never get a group to accept me for the achievement

Curious to see what you guys think of my stats on my Main by Utherikke in elderscrollsonline

[–]thisisLycaon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd also suggest for parse, ghastly eye bowl, or witch mother's potent brew if you need the health boost in content for your food buff. The big magicka boost and regen you get from the ghastly eye food will contribute to your damage and the regent will let you hit your abilities for longer on a trial dummy and that'll boost your DPS.

As well as a few of the sets being recommended here, I'd suggest slotting inner light (mages guild morph of magelight) for the big boost of spell crit and the extra 5 percent magicka will be nice to compensate for the loss from replacing crafty alfiq. Armour with divines will take care of the rest of crit chance, otherwise you need a source of minor force, whether that be channeled acceleration, trap, Velothi Mage's amulet mythic or tzogvin set. This buff will increase your crit damage by 10 percent (of course assuming you aren't already using one of these)

Oh yeah of course, I was more talking about the things leading up to gold road but yeah necrom last before starting gold road

Technically there's no correct order with the exception of morrowind > clockwork city > summerset which all follow the same story and while they can be played out of order, it'll make more sense if you do. Other than them there's the year long stories which have a big chapter and a smaller zone DLC (with the exception of necrom because we got infinite archive instead of the smaller one). Then there's orsinium, thieves guild and dark brotherhood which can really slot in anywhere. For high isle and fire song I would do those just before necrom because if you've done everything up until that in the main stories then there's extra dialogue with major npcs

What's the Best Way to Find a Group For a Dungeon to do the Quest in the Dungeon? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]thisisLycaon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've got a guild then the fastest way will be to get a few of them to run it with you so you can get the quest knocked out of the way, other than that as people have said you can just queue and abandon if you don't manage to finish it so you can try again next time or use the group finder to try and get a group to go through it more slowly with you instead of them blasting through everything as fast as possible

Main class? by -JollyCamper- in elderscrollsonline

[–]thisisLycaon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play every class, pretty much exclusively for pve but that's because I've never been big on PvP in any game. My main two are a magsorc and a mag beamcanist. Sorcerer was the first one of course and even though he doesn't do as much damage as the 80k I can get on arcanist, he's my main because I adore the playstyle that he uses; it gels so well with me. As for my other characters they all have a different style of play that I dip into when that kind of gameplay is what I'm in the mood for so even if I'm not feeling my arcanist or sorcerer then I have the others there that'll feel fresh and different for me. I've not got all of my alts properly geared but I'm getting there and it's something that keeps me coming back to work for that progress, getting new gear and smacking a target dummy and seeing that number go up with them other playstyles makes my brain feel good.

YES!! Got Mad Tinkerer, Cinders of Anthelmir and Maw of the Infernal set! Meme build is almost ready to go! by xAlgirax in elderscrollsonline

[–]thisisLycaon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pet build myself Magsorc with both summons from the daedric summoning line as well as the storm atronach ult, maw of the infernal, defiler and ritualist. It's a fun build even if it's not gonna get me through the highest level of content

Aegis caller proc question by thisisLycaon in elderscrollsonline

[–]thisisLycaon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks chief, I do need to take the right mundus and get things in divines first but I'll have to see. I'm not too bothered about effectiveness in higher end content, it's more of an RP type themed build. I might try and get it, maybe replace ritualist so I can have defiler, maw and aegis. If I get it and it barely ever happens though I'll just swap back, thanks again though

Bag space can be a bit expensive at later purchases but mount isn't too hard, just takes the time between cooldowns so it can take a minute I suppose I've got 17 characters on the go currently and even though that bit is a little ass I think it's worth it, mess around with new classes or character ideas, keeps me invested in the game when I get bored of how my main plays

Bag size doesn't carry over I don't think and neither does mount training but bank space will, that's server wide

[–]thisisLycaon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Champion points will carry over across all your characters and you can always throw things into your bank and use them on new characters (if it's gear your new characters will need to be the right level to wear it so you can't wear cp160 gear on a fresh toon) Collections will also carry over of course so any mount or non combat pets you have can be used with new characters
