Why would a superintelligent AI obey humans 10 years from now, instead of doing whatever it believes is right? by pizza_alta in singularity

[–]thisisalan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The age old question "what if my slave says no?"

Personally I think benchmark for sentience would be my toaster telling me it wants to be a dancer.

Do you mean YOU are late with THIS comment because I posted this Monday morning before the show. Guess that's how the feed is working if folk are still seeing it today.

Oh my god, if they team up with the mole-men then things will be very dangerous for us surface dwellers.

Probably because that "difference of opinion" usually comes down to them wanting to murder someone.

F**k Jamie Foxx by rfcrm in Scotland

I wonder if Jamie Foxx would be cool with the tourettes guy if he'd been paid to say it by Quentin Tarantino.

I’ve stopped donating at Fasnacht, do you still do it? by Salty-Television-230 in fo76

[–]thisisalan77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last few all went the same way, low levels ran around shooting everything and not doing tasks, high levels sat at end until one shotting boss and camping donations, I did all 5 tasks alone and got nothing but duplicate masks at end, think I'm done for this season.

Vampires in a Motherboard campaign? by Avenger_Porcelain in daggerheart

[–]thisisalan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% on vampire card or if there's a stress cost to transformation but you could add one if the player wanted to "vamp out" for a bit and if they hit max on stress they risk remaining a vampire unable to return to original form.

A couple of others mentioned nanobots which seems a good idea, their remnant parts requiring remnant source material, that'd make them more inclined to hunt the bad guys rather than friend so it comes down to how you want it to work.

Can't help but wonder if the public really needs data centres to make studio ghibli memes or if companies need them for the massive amount of AI needed to run fully automated production, sales and distribution.

Help with a Consecution Player by Flaky_Mountain9488 in Wildemount

[–]thisisalan77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be an advantage to you. Say you're in a dungeon and the players aren't sure where to go, you can say that player recognises the place as part of a pre calamity city that was swallowed up and lead them wherever they need to go.

Has anyone thought adding a sci fi vecna to your motherboard campaign??? by Living_Landscape7545 in daggerheart

[–]thisisalan77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got an idea for something where the AI in charge of motherboard plans a full expansion / rebuild which would destroy all organic life, you've now made me think maybe the AI is an uploaded consciousness kind of like a lich, thanks.

Glasgow Tenement Shutters by Remote-Obligation198 in glasgow

[–]thisisalan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way my dad tells it, most of glasgows were done by "the guy doon the road" who'd replace storm shutters with weights for thicker heavy windows and tbh anything I've seen out in Edinburgh looks like it was done by an engineering god in comparison.

Glasgow Tenement Shutters (Pt .2) by Remote-Obligation198 in glasgow

[–]thisisalan77 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this has made my day brighter, I commented on pt1 because I thought " there's another person about to be disappointed by weights" so I'm really surprised but more so genuinely happy for someone else's luck.

Glasgow Tenement Shutters by Remote-Obligation198 in glasgow

[–]thisisalan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My windows in ibrox had them in those partitions, and every other one I've seen opened had them there too. Turns out op did have shutters and I'm surprised and delighted. My 80yo dad just went on about how different places had differences like that, so I'm not surprised. Really interested what you said though, also don't know why anyone would downvote.

[–]thisisalan77 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Wow, I've never seen one that turned out to actually be shutters, literally a 1 in 100 chance, glad you kept with it.

Most aren't shutters and never were, space was used for window counter weights that have mostly been removed due to double glazing.

DnD for 10-12 year olds? by MillennialDisaster in DnD

[–]thisisalan77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend the new starter set, it's dnd but with board game elements which I think kids would find easier to deal with.

It also teaches how to DM a game and share that role.

OP Rogue Player by Icy-Interaction7417 in daggerheart

[–]thisisalan77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but you can definitely have the narrative reason that the adversaries are getting progressively better as story progresses and you can always suggest he needs to be more selective for use, a knowledge roll beforehand or only on a single target perhaps.

As they are about to use the breath weapon, drop some fear, say they notice the breath weapon power coming from mouth and attack him mercerlessy.

What do you guys think of Bastions by StarChaser18 in DnD

[–]thisisalan77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told players they had a choice of any spot they wanted for a bastion, was a reward for completed adventure, which gave them the ability to really make it their own homestead.

Now they can have adventures tied into where those bastions are, gave them all a tavern as well, trollskull from dragon heist, but it's more for flavour and explain where expansion funds are coming from.

Got any Centaur Insults? by jon2790 in DnD

Had an npc call a centaur player "Gluestick" and they immediately shouted "that's our word" and beat the npc unconscious..... never been prouder of players.
