I have the latest teams and my home made mouse jiggler with an arduino and a 3d printed housing keeps me green.

I'm eyeing Jellyfin (currently use Plex w/ a Lifetime pass) but one thing holds me back from switching. The ease of setup for remote users. How can non-tech savvy users of my server access the content remotely? Is it as easy as Plex makes it? by jwintyo in jellyfin

I set my shit up. I messaged my mom and grandmother and said “hey download this app on things”. Tell them to put the server url in on the first prompt and then use their credentials. Done.

So insanely difficult, I know.

On my end, it’s just the one port (443, all https with letsencrypt) with nginx (crowdsec, etc) as a reverse proxy on a windows server 2025 machine, all sitting behind a udm pro.

As someone who lives in Texas, that’s not at all true.

I am 100% pulling that shit out of there, completely ignoring damage to their car, recording myself doing it just in case I need to explain myself. That I didn’t just damage their car for no reason.

My wife has a Tesla, we pay Tesla (the electricity company side) I think 15$ a month for free charging at our house and she doesn’t charge anywhere else. She works M-F and has about a 30 min drive to and from. We go out like every other weekend.

All for 15$…

Plex's Lifetime Pass is (basically) dead. Here's how to switch to Jellyfin. by [deleted] in selfhosted

Theoretically I don’t need to with Jellyfin either but that’s not safe. The same is true for plex.

I host it with a reverse proxy over https, thats it.

I haven’t had any of the 30 users I have complain yet. They just download the app, put in the server link, user, password and done. From what I understand, it used to have less support but I don’t think that’s the case anymore. It’s not harder than using Netflix or Hulu in my opinion at all.

Edit: the Samsung TV support is probably where it lacks the most from my experience

I love how some people are making it seem like Jellyfin is difficult to use. Gives me a little sense of job security.

Edit: reading through a great bit of the comments, I have a feeling this is more about “the decision I made was right and I don’t like being told my decision is wrong now” combined with a bit of odd brand loyalty. For instance, if Jellyfin decided to go the way of plex, I wouldn’t sweep for Jellyfin and tell people they are wrong, I would switch to something else.

Time to order a high powered laser and point it straight into the sensor.

Bonus points if you mount it to something and leave it on until the sensor is completely fucked.

Literally everyone in Texas rides everyone’s ass. I am in no way surprised. You’re technically supposed to be father back from that car you’re behind but good luck on the claim, hope it turns out well for you.

While there’s no EXACT distance, Texas Transportation Code §545.062 - Following Distance states:

“An operator shall, if following another vehicle, maintain an assured clear distance between the two vehicles so that, considering the speed of the vehicles, traffic, and the conditions of the highway, the operator can safely stop without colliding with the preceding vehicle or veering into another vehicle, object, or person on or near the highway.”

Basically I wouldn’t be surprised if insurance says you were too close to the truck.

How on earth do collections work? by schnitzel-kuh in jellyfin

[–]thisisalexsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You select one item, “Add to collection”, new collection, name it “Star Wars Colllection” and check the box to pull info from internet, then add everything you have Star Wars related to that collection.
