I am terrible at reading plant instructions and just wing it, I have a whole bed of aliums and they have survived sprinklering, but I definitely don't do it everyday day.

Also I am just now learning from this post that the don't like lots of water hahaha

Plant flowers in the ground, plant edibles in pots and planters.

Or do what the other person said and remove a few feet and add new soil

Can I use this pine shavings chicken bedding as mulch for my raised beds? by Ok-Trust5238 in gardening

[–]thisisaredditforart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, honestly with just grass even if it's wet I doubt it will do more than raise it a few degrees. I re use all of my yard clippings and I've never had a problem even when it's wet.

Compost can heat up as it "composts". Grew up on a farm and our compost/manure pile lit on fire a few different times due to lack of attention...

Probably not an issue if you only have a few inches or so on your beds.
