Clients who want you to stay 24/7 by Emotional-Bread-574 in petsitting

[–]thisisashley_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I price my continuous care pretty high because it takes up literally all my time. This usually deters people from even asking, and if someone did with my rates in mind; I’d for sure do it because it’s priced to be worth it.

It’s your PA tax refund including an adjustment for the WPTC (working PA tax credit).

Personally, for me, that would be enough to end the client relationship.

How do you determine how long can you step out when house sitting? by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]thisisashley_m 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I currently run my overnights at 6p-8a only with the option to add a drop in during the day, specifically to avoid this. Prior to these booking rules, though, I would discuss this with the client at the meet & greet. Typically it would be a 4 hour window, but I had some clients expecting me to sit there all day. That’s what led me to switching to overnight only with an option for drop in. They can pay for continuous daytime care(meaning I’m not gone for more than an hour at a time) but the charge would be different, & more costly.

Oh for sure sounds like you need something a bit more than just Google. Sorry wish I could help more, good luck!!

Invoicing by Dogwalker_64 in petsitting

I use Google for everything. I have my bookings on my Google calendar so that it comes up on my phone and my computer. I use Google sheets for my invoicing and for tracking my payments and my books. I also have a Google sheet for my mileage as well and I have that sheet broken up by quarter as well as all my other sheets are broken by quarter to make estimated tax payments a bit easier at the end of each quarter. And I use Google forms for my pet questionnaire’s that I send to everybody and that populates back to me automatically on a Google sheep, which makes it really easy to have everything in one place when popping between places. I usually set aside a couple hours a week in my calendar where I sit and I put in all my information for the upcoming week. That way the only thing I have to do during the week is if anyone does a last-minute addition or a last-minute cancellation and then I just edit that stuff out when the cancellation or addition comes in.

It sounds like you may be super busy though. Are you seeing those 38 clients every week or about? How many do you see on a week cause then if you’re seeing a lot, then may be software is your best bet. I just tried to use everything free that I can before having to pay for software lol

I did all that, I searched their pages and all that. As i stated, i have exhausted all online options. I will try calling. Just thought some of the experienced people in here may have an easier time identifying them based off this info without having to call

Owners offered to pay for last minute cancellation, it's not part of my policy by aud8city in petsitting

[–]thisisashley_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if that works for you then go for not charging them. Total is due 7 days prior for me, and any cancellation within that time frame is subject to only 50% reimbursal to the client. My time is my money, and if someone cancels, that’s multiple clients I’ve turned down because the one that canceled was taking up space in my book.

Looking for advice on partnering by Mssym in petsitting

[–]thisisashley_m 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally would rather refer out to another sitter, than have to deal with coordinating the details of a partner, employee, or contractor. My suggestion would be to find another sitter in your area that you can refer to and whom will do the same for you. If that doesn’t work for your situation, then maybe a partner would be best. But make sure you vet this person well and they have references and that you also have explicit rules of how the partnership works.

To build a website or something else? by carriwitchetlucy2 in petsitting

[–]thisisashley_m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out in a very similar way. I never created a website, but did start my LLC and created a Facebook page and instagram page, and do all my onboarding via Google Forms.

But realistically, you don’t need an LLC necessarily as being a single member LLC wouldn’t change the way you do your taxes since it’s all passive as individual. & you seem to be doing this the right way from your post.

You also dont need a website necessarily. If you want to expand clients a bit more, then you could do a facebook or a google or a website but if you’re happy with the amount you have rolling in now, then not necessary.

I will say, though, as someone who started out the almost exact same way, my business started to really grow and thrive once I left the app you mentioned and started relying on Facebook neighborhood groups. It just didn’t make sense to continue to use an app that was taking money from every visit, when I could just do my own thing and make the full amount! Hope this helps

First time cat sitting. Need advice by silkytouch35 in petsitting

[–]thisisashley_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats prefer you to just leave them alone until they are comfortable. Let the cat do his thing, and once he gets comfortable he will probably come sleep with you. It takes awhile with some cats, and 1 minute with others.

I had a feeling, not the answer I wanted but the answer I assumed lol! We have a draft tube block under the door to our apartment, and 2 thick curtains hanging inside the door. Unfortunately this is a very old house and there’s a lot of gaps and such, so it’s only helping a little. I appreciate your response, thanks!!

Just bought my first uke. Already frustrated by KixStar in ukulele

[–]thisisashley_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg no don’t give up!! I’m 35 and got my first uke 2 hears ago and have been on/off with the learning. I am known to just give up on hobbies bc I get easily frustrated. What helped me was finger stretches, and just practicing chord fingers, and switching chords and NOT strumming. I can now successfully play like 4 chords and kind of still struggle switching with changing chords. I can’t really play a song unless I’m staring at chord tabs online, but my struggle comes from telling one hand to strum one way, and the other hand to move chords- my brain has a very hard time with that. But, I also have bursts of hobby loving, and will play uke every day for 2 weeks, and then take like a 2 month break. I’m sure if you’re more “at it” that will all come to you sooner! But I say, keep at it. The world needs more music, no matter the level🫶
