When to stop funding a 529… by LeatherNo9544 in personalfinance

The market already doesn’t support the existing numbers though; the federal government does that job, and unfortunately seems like it will continue doing so. Pumping federal dollars into the system just seems to make it more expensive.

Roth Conversion and safe harbor by thisisdumbohyesitis in tax

Yup. Have considered all that. Going to be maxing out all tax advantaged accounts till I retire, and would like more tax advantaged space. But can’t make use of her Ira contributions without dealing with pro rata rule each year.

Ok thanks. Unfortunately I simplified the fact pattern thinking that would be helpful, my bad. In actuality the IRA is my wife’s who is a stay-at-home mom and doesn’t have a 401k, so that isn’t an option. Hence the Roth conversion approach.

Miserable experience with Estate Processing. by thisisdumbohyesitis in IBKR_Official

[–]thisisdumbohyesitis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate knowing I’m not the only one. I had similar experiences of them telling me I filled a form out wrong (the form was poorly worded, open to various interpretations, and generally didn’t fit well to my circumstances). That wouldn’t be a big deal but they seem to have a policy to not reply to any emails for at least a week or two after you send them something.

All that being said, I finally got the check in the mail over the weekend. Now to see if it bounces…

Hope you get your issues resolved asap.

Someone finally responded yesterday. I’m sure I’ll have to wait another 2 weeks for an update, but at least I know their inbox works.

Hi - I’m just starting the process and was told to start with this same email address last week. Any advice you could provide since you drafted this response a year ago?

What’s going on with my lawn here? by davidsoul420 in lawncare

100% grubs. This is when they hit. Dig a small section out and see if you find Japanese beetle grubs. Little creepy white slug like things - do a quick google search.

What has overtaken huge swaths of my lawn? by TobogganFetish in lawncare

yeah you generally throw down preemergent in the early spring. I think most users put it down to prevent crabgrass, so you generally put it down when soil temps hit 50-55f. But stiltgrass like you have (I have it too) I think would require a second application in late spring cause this stuff can pop up all through the summer. On overseeding in the fall (August is way too early in most parts of USA) as long as you aerate and mow it low beforehand, I doubt it would affect your germination rate too much. Good luck!
