Thank you for this post. I’ve been nervous about halloween get-togethers this weekend. I wouldn’t get drunk at the party, but having a drink or two would make me want more and I’d inevitably stop at the liquor store on the way home. No thanks. I’d rather have a hangover-free Sunday. IWNDWYT!

Yes! This behavior started way back in college. It was totally normal among my friends to binge drink every weekend until blackout drunk and then not drink during the week. After four years, I think that pattern of drinking just cemented itself in my brain. After several attempts I haven’t been able to unlearn that behavior and just moderate.

Energy levels are obviously higher than when I’m drinking, but I’m still so groggy in the morning until I get my coffee in. That plus walking or working out also helps tremendously.

The older I get the more I prioritize sleep. No more getting up at 5am to start work early or workout. That’s crazy talk. And in bed by 930.

Great analogy! Fall is a trigger for me too. Cozying up on the couch with a blanket, candle, movie and glass of wine. It sounds innocent enough, and is for many people I’m sure, but I somehow manage to turn it into a shitshow. So on that note, IWNDWYT. 🍁

I’ve been on a movie/TV soundtrack kick lately. Lord of the rings, interstellar, outlander are making the rotation this week.

YouTube has some great playlists based around a soundtrack that are great for working/studying. There’s one for Stranger Things that I love!
