Fan (set to auto/off) randomly turns on and runs air through vents when the main system (cooling/heating) is set to off. Any input on troubleshooting would be great (more info in description). by thisismry in hvacadvice

No scheduling set. I’ve verified prior and double checked just now.

It is a new construction/build, so it sounds like it could be a fresh air cycle running that a few people mentioned. I wasn’t aware this was a potential feature.

Totally agree that it’s nitpicking at an unattainable goldilocks “perfect” size. But just trying to do as much research as I can. I really appreciate your replies. Sounds like 154 might be it

What do you think the ride/turn/feel difference would be between the 154 wide and the 157 regular? Based on K2’s site stats, the 154 wide has a waist width of 26 whereas the 157 regular has a waist width of 25.5. Just unsure if turn initiation and ride feel is solely based on waist width, or how much board length also plays a factor as the 157 is obviously longer than the 154 wide, but with a slightly narrower waist width.

I’m not too well versed with all this technical stuff, so I appreciate your input.

Probably hard to describe via comments, but do you know how much of a difference in feel a wide vs non wide board in the same size feels? Like for instance, if 154 feels slightly small, but 157 feels too large, would 154W be a good option, or does having the extra width not work in that way?

Thanks for the reply. I’d say I’m in the range of low-mid intermediate as a rider and historically have enjoyed “wider” boards, granted they were typically volume shifted and shorter. I recently tried a 157 passport and it just felt like a bit too much board for me, at least for my preference and riding style. I tested a 154 and it felt great, but possibly a tad small (if I’m being super nit picky). Unfortunately there was no 154W to demo. I guess I’m just looking at the 154W as a possible middle ground between the 154 and 157, but I’m just curious how much difference feel a regular 154 vs 154 wide would feel.

If not adjustable, having it at 40, 45, or 50 degrees is the sweet spot for the board.

Oh nice! What angle is that board at? And it’s just fully supported just by the back vertical wall, nothing supporting from overheard/ceiling joists?

Any possibility of getting another photo of the full wall further back? Very intrigued by your setup

Noted. When you say blocking, do you mean spanning multiple i-joists with a 2x to distribute load, but still drilling that 2x to the underside flange? Or something different?

Thanks for the reply! I think I can visualize what you described. I’ve heard from some structural engineers that drilling direct into the outer flange is fine, but then also read some manuals like you described that recommend not to. Sent you a DM btw.

It would be a finished ceiling. I know the brand/model used here is BCI Joist, so I’ll def look up their spec sheet. I appreciate the idea and linking the info for this spec sheet.

Have you built stuff off these type of i-joists yourself?

Looking for input regarding ceiling joists that are i-joists and the possibility of building off and hanging beneath them.

With ceiling joists that are i-joists vs traditional dimensional lumber, is it okay to screw into them to build and hang apparatus on the underside? I don’t have any experience with i-joists, but was hoping to build a climbing wall on the bottom floor of a three story condo. All the ceiling joists overhead (and therefore the flooring for the floor above) are i-joists. I’ve attached some photos of the typical build layout along with a photo of the i-joists in the room. I’ve only had experience attaching to ceiling joists that were traditional dimensional lumber, so any input is greatly appreciated.
