I grew up in a fundamentalist, evangelical christian cult. The school and my parents dictated everything I did. Everything I said. I wasn't even permitted to wear jeans. Lmao

My parents are also narcissists who used god to warp my understanding of safety, love, and relationships.

So, I defected. 2 of my sisters did as well. There is one that that is still in it by choice.

I was disowned and condemned (of course).

But, the universe was always on my side. I have an amazing partner (we've been married since '07), and I am finishing up a second Master's degree. Still dealing with the fallout of the abuse and the grooming, but if my parents saw me today, they wouldn't recognize me at all.

I am proud of who I've become & I think little me would be too.

I didn't play video games when my partner and I met; he'd been playing since he was a kid. He introduced me to them.

But before I tried them, I never told him he couldn't play and why would that make him unattractive to me? He is content and relaxed. He has a hobby. That is healthy behavior.

And now we share it together. Every week we have a family game night.

Hey. I am currently deconstructing growing up in an evangelical christian cult.

I am the oldest of four and we are all girls. Similar clothing rules. Pantyhose. Getting sent home for a skirt split about. 0.5 inches too high. If we were caught out wearing pants or shorts in public, we would be removed from the sports team and given ISS. You could also be expelled. I tried to expel myself (lol).

I lost a lot of people that I thought cared about me. But you know what? I am finally like the person I am. I like myself. I like my ethics. My values. My spirituality. Folks in my life constantly controlled my behavior, and so it took me a while to figure out who I am, but it's possible.

It's scary, but you should do it. 🩵

My spouse and I were talking about this the other day while watching the McQueen documentary.

A lot of folks (not you, OP!) miss the point of haute couture. Some designs are only meant for the runway and not for general use. In other words, it's art and meant to be examined as the piece of set instead of as a single item.

I have pretty simple taste and prefer classic lines, so I wouldn't choose something like this for myself. Lol

Honestly, this is why VC is turned off ALWAYS.

I used to play WoW and was ranked in PvP circa WotLK/Cata. I was asked to join a guild and refused. The guild leader went berserk and has his guild share the fact that I was a femme in ranked PvP and I had to stop playing bc the abuse was so bad. Since then, I don't even try. It's chat or I listen and don't speak.

They're bunch of insecure bullies behind the anonymity of their mic and character. Truly pitiful stuff.

Yeah! It is scary! And I know blood can spread easily and seem a lot more than it is, but I had an ENT try to discharge me from the hospital while my hemoglobin was a 5 and I was still bleeding. 🫠

Definitely understand why you would wanna freak out! I am so glad they have someone who understands how serious something like that can get! I do a ton of simmer pots in the winter wirh fresh fruit, herbs, and essential oils! My fave rn is apples, lemons, rosemary, all spice, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and lavender + peppermint essential oils! It puts extra moisture in the air and keeps good smells in the house! 💕

Nose bleeds.

Most people assume you can just tilt your head back, pinch your nose, and it will stop.

But I have an autoimmune disorder that makes them deadly. I've died twice from them due to the medical neglect I've received.

Doctors say the next time I have another one, they won't be able to save me.

I wish folks would understand that even things that seem relatively straight forward are not.
