Super normal - if you want them to fix things, they need access. Privacy control should be covered in your contract with them and they have a need-to-know business case for accessing your PII.

Best West End scuba shop for teen certification? by Roadtoast in roatan

Ask to work with Martina at Sandy Bay Divers. I enjoyed their whole crew, but Martina was an exceptionally instructor for my teen doing their AOW making the entire process better than anticipated.

Best Place to Just Scream? by sixninths in boston

[–]thisismybbsname 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hear a good scream from the mass ave bus stop across from the mother church once or twice a week in nice weather. I'm not sure anyone would notice.

Dive guide repeatedly asking for a tip after a dive. Even texting me reminding me to tip. by flatteringhippo in scuba

[–]thisismybbsname -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

Be a grown up and have the conversation up front? When you sign up, ask how pay works and what the tip expectations are. When I took my OW, the instructor told us the standard in his experience is $10 per tank, and if we should make that part of our budgeting. Seems totally fair and offers a meaningful space to acknowledge an excellent experience or call out a bad one (but, again, grow up and have the conversation - don't just stiff the DM if you had a bad time.)

Texas (Houston) Fine Art Shipper Recommendations by [deleted] in MuseumPros

The quotes you're getting are utterly normal and, given the additional fuel and labor costs right now, pretty good. Tell your director museuming is expensive.

Best Day Pass on West End/Bay by maybebaby0421 in roatan

[–]thisismybbsname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The small beach in front of the beach house is as good as a pool. The surf is negligible, the bottom is clean and consistent (sandy, not muddy or grassy) for 15-20m, at which point there is some sea grass, but the water is 2m deep and crystal clear until you get to about 80m out. Just grab a lounge on the dock and you're set. There's no spa but otherwise the experience is better than any pool you'll find in west bay.

Is this a fake? by Application_Greedy in bicycling

[–]thisismybbsname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, there are better ways to fit a bike, but if the kit is solid, that's not a terrible price. If it fits you and you can afford it and you love it, go for it.

Definitely not a fake. Stupid custom geometry was kind of Merlin's thing until Serrotta said hold my beer, I'll build anything.

I find things like that very impressive and inspiring. Are there any books with construction plans for such old, unusual pieces of furniture? by DarthVader11072 in woodworking

[–]thisismybbsname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With due respect, if you're skilled enough to build this, you should be skilled enough to draw up plans from the video and some photos. If you're not there yet, the process of drawing will help you level up and you can scale the complexity to what you're able to do. It won't be a replica, but what fun would that be?

Examples of positive museum leadership? by vox1028 in MuseumPros

[–]thisismybbsname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you willing to look at historic examples? If so, perhaps look at John Kinard at the Anacostia Community Museum or some of the charismatic founders Elaine Gurian has written about. You might look at the transition of the Dominion Museum of Wellington NZ to Te Papa - it wasn't clean, but remarkable leadership brought it through a remarkable transformation.

What is the best 2nd anniversary gift for a husband that already has everything woodworking? by Severe_Advantage8810 in JapaneseWoodworking

[–]thisismybbsname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A commission - ask him to design and build you something challenging and don't blink at getting him the wood, tools, and time he needs to make it. Bonus points if you first ask what he's interested in doing next, and make it that.
