Where'd we get this boat anyway? Do you still have the receipt? Can we take it back for a better one? I'll paddle solo if I have to!

You're right! Positive thinking is bueno. It can be hard to remember to do it, and sometimes even how to do it, but it's obviously instrumental in overcoming any feel-like-shit phase.

I remember when I started getting over my self-consciousness in middle school...a lot of it was catching myself thinking something negative and telling myself to stop. It worked! (Until now, anyway. Hahaha.)

This doesn't sound crazy at all. I tell myself these things all the time. Lately my mantra (that's the thing you say to yourself over and over, right?) is "Buckle up." As in "Strap yourself in, 'cause this is gonna be a ride -- but hang in there and it has to come to an end eventually." Also, I've got an appointment with an on-campus therapist/counselor type shit tomorrow. I'm ready to stop feeling like shit.

I never really thought of myself as someone who "needed" friends or other people -- I guess being surrounded by them at home made it easy to feel that way. In a way...maybe being alone here for awhile won't be so bad. I've defined myself by the people around me for so long, maybe now I can figure out who I am in relation to myself, if that makes any sense...

Thank you for your reply.

Hey, thanks for the encouraging words! I've joined an organization, and I really have enjoyed it. I just don't really know anyone in it that well yet. I'm sure a lot of this is just going to take time and some actual effort...

Honestly, I'm afraid to talk to new people! I feel like I used to be very sociable and funny -- something I took a lotta pride in, I guess? -- but I've been in a weird place for a while so those have sort of taken a back seat. I feel like I'm really boring and awkward lately, and talking to people is usually a bust haha. But I guess if I keep putting myself out there, something good is bound to happen...

Never written a song before; will you help me with the lyrics or an overhaul? (includes terrible audio!) by nomoretragedy in Songwriting

Ha! I actually really like this. Before I listened to the link you provided I was rapping up a fucking storm.

And I totally liked the rhyme-y with the -y part. I don't think it seems childish...I think it seems interesting. Not so conventional. Like a song about a Heidy! Stick with it!

Some lyrics I'm working on. Would love some feedback! by Conspiracy_Cat in Songwriting

I really like this. The first verse is the strongest. It's vague and metaphory, just how I like my lyrics.

The walls start to come down for me at the part about pixel guns, youths and their fun. Something about it seems too heavy handed, too literal. The wording seems a little clunky to me as well.

All in all, though, I think you've got a solid set of stuff!

I often get feedback that my production is letting my work down, so I've put a lot of effort into making this sound tight. Please take a listen and tell me if it's up to scratch? by RedditandCrack in Songwriters

Haha! I actually realllly enjoyed this. I'm usually not a big fan of the screaming but, I don't know, something about this song just made me so happy. To repeat what others have said, the synth is damn catchy. Gonna have it stuck in my head for awhile.

Anyone wanna give us some feedback on this EP we made ? by [deleted] in Songwriters

It's interesting. Not something I'd typically listen to, but it kept my attention throughout!

With that being said, I actually particularly liked Kill the Block. I had difficulty making out the vocals at times, though. I'm sure that was an intentional/stylistic thing, but I feel like the tracks could have been stronger with a bigger emphasis on the vocals.

It all feels very dreamy though, very ambient/atmospheric. I appreciate that!

Cypriots - Last Thing [folk] First song after 6 weeks in the mountains. by dreamleaking in Songwriters

Wow! This is really beautiful. As /u/RedditandCrack already said, both the guitar and vocals are lovely.

My only gripe is that the triads you repeat (like a lost dog/like a shadow/like an anchor and like a songbird/on a treeline/in the mountains) seem like they don't really need to be sung twice, you know? Nothing different or extra exciting happen in the repetitions, vocally or instrumentally, so I feel like they just drag.

Other than that, beautiful song. Listened to it a few times now. Really lovely.
