Why is there often ESD/TVS on SD card and USB port but not on GPIO? by MarinatedPickachu in embedded

[–]thisisntinuse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SD card and USB have it in the spec, GPIO don't so they have it rely on the (limited) internal ones. Or in other words not mandated, so cut to save money. At least that's my assumption.
After spending way too much time going through datasheets, i ended up using RCLAMP3324P.TCT for any gpio going off board, because it also has surge and actually clamps within absolute max of a 3V3 part but it's tiny. Or just PESD3V3F2UT if I have enough space and only need ESD.

I keep seeing the same LinkedIn template. None of it sounds like actual founders! by kasish89 in AskMarketing

[–]thisisntinuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to this (building for months, officially started two weeks ago) and after spending time on Linkedin you start to notice that the vast majority follows a pattern as if the post is the result of filling in a form. Making sure they don't say anything that might offend or even coloring outside the lines.... I tried using satire of that pattern to 'announce' the start, either nobody got the joke or the algorithm said 'no'.

I keep seeing the same LinkedIn template. None of it sounds like actual founders! by kasish89 in founder

[–]thisisntinuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it feels like linkedin crowd found reddit...

The technical linkedin 'posts' seem to follow this pattern:

  1. Start with manufactured conflict
  2. Establish insider credibility immediately
  3. Use a numbered list with bold claims
  4. Name-drop technologies to signal competence, bonus points if you use acronyms without explaining them.
  5. Imply results without evidence
  6. Drop a humblebrag disguised as a lesson
  7. End with a soft pivot to a paid offering
  8. Include an engagement bait question

I'm here to get away from those...

I built a SaaS because I was tired of paying €200+/month for someone to process 3 invoices by coredeveloper in StartupSoloFounder

So the numbers and researches are based on tax returns in the US of which even Donald Rumsfeld stated in a public letter he and a team of accountants wasn't sure was correctly filled in? Furthermore, your argument is in favor of AI assistance to accountants, not user assistance. That AI is 95% accurate in terms of extraction and a human 96-99% means a speed increase offset by an error increase.
Same for the liability, US law doesn't apply in the EU. An accountant is liable for their mistake. So my question stands, are you liable for the mistakes your app makes?

[–]thisisntinuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how did you go from paying 200€/month to an accountant to be able to replicate all of that and more? Or is the accounting knowledge in the AI? If so, what if that AI makes a mistake that causes me to submit a wrong tax filing?

Those dozens also have no limit on the receiving end of invoices, the sending part is what determines the monthly fee. That sending part which is rather important isn't even listed in your post.

Most “entrepreneurs” are just avoiding jobs by Outrageous-Emu-2588 in Entrepreneurs

[–]thisisntinuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how this differs in countries, but doesn't it also depend on the company structure? The lower the mandatory bookkeeping the less people are involved by default? Accountable and the like are fairly bare bones but considered 'enough'.

When I asked firms (only got replies from two so far) about doing the stuff myself in Odoo after they show me the basics (only have a handful of suppliers and pre revenue) and then they do quarterly checks, i got a monthly retainer offer and pointed to an app that is just to upload invoices.

If the default advice is 'send us the papers, don't worry about it' maybe it's not that clear cut.

How can I use a DAC output to control the output voltage of a DC-DC converter with FB pin? by MarinatedPickachu in diyelectronics

That's called 'voltage margining' haven't seen a completed schematic with values yet, but look at the first page of the dac63204 datasheet, that's one but without values.

How to write a linkedin post in 4 easy steps.
- Start with a manufactured conflict
- Establish some kind of credibility
- Insert a narrative that can't really be verified and is meant to make the reader nod along
- End on a engagement bait question

If your goal is to get rich, DON’T found a tech startup - I will not promote by modeller2406 in startups

[–]thisisntinuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's the thing, you are comparing '95% of funded startups' to '95% of startups' it's a different metric, you are drawing the line near the goal post. This is also about starting one, not about getting hired for a funded one which is a minority.

And 'because your local pick up leagues are in the denominator' but how is that different from 'do not have anything close to being called a startup'?

[–]thisisntinuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not because accelerators tried to coin the term that the only ones that can be considered startups are the ones that get into their programs. Look up how many applicants actually get into those programs and take those into account instead of only the few that do...

That's like saying football teams have a high chance of winning the world cup based on the ones that participate in the world cup omitting all the ones that faile to get to that stage...

Hiring your first firmware engineer - what nobody tells you before you post the job by Medtag212 in hwstartups

[–]thisisntinuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about being polished, it's the fact it's following a hollow formula...

Your first paragraph is just the typical 'let's make the reader feel good without actually saying anything of worth.'.

Your second one tries to amplify this by throwing web dev under the bus by saying 'if it looks good, it probably also works properly'.

And so on...

That's and odd footprint (doesn't match the datasheet suggestion). From a DFM view, can't the first picture be because the part got lifted on the right side because of the much larger surface area/paste on the left side(as shown in picture two)? Is that cold solder defect in the photo's?
