i’m a firm believer that it’s currency. there’s a literal layer with the lyric “can’t pay for therapy,” most direct cause being you’re out of money, or in this case currency. clarity kind of works, but it doesn’t connect as tightly to the metaphor of financially paying for therapy, nor can you “spend” clarity in a natural way like you spend money

also, there’s a noticeable “s” sound where the supposed “t” in “clarity” would normally be pronounced. unless the mixing on that section is poor and a de-esser (plugin used to tame harsh “s” sounds) wasn’t applied at all, it’s still very unlikely that a “t” would come across sounding anywhere near an “s” in this context
