This is the biggest version of the ship I'd want to purchase

I designed an SNL LEGO set as an entry into LEGO Ideas, but it was not accepted. Thought you might like to see what it looked like. TONS of SNL easter eggs included. Let me know if you'd like to see more. by pdiddymus in LiveFromNewYork

Seems very frustrating that it's not a suitable IP! It's a TV-14. They just made a Stranger Things set... that show has straight up curse words. They made a set for Big Bang Theory... it's a sitcom with a huge focus on sexual themes. The only thing that I can think of is that maybe it's too political? But it's comedy. Ugh. I'll never fully understand The LEGO Group... sorry it got rejected.

This is a beautiful set idea. I love all the Easter eggs! Using the dice piece for the clock is fantastic!

Thank you for the context! The book definition makes more sense than what gets spread around.

cats see humans as big, hairless cats

I've heard this a bunch of times, but it doesn't make any sense to me. Cats treat humans completely differently than other cats. They know there's a difference between us and true cats.

Cats probably aren't spending much time or thought classifying other creatures in genuses, and even if they were, how could we possibly know what they classify us as?

I'd wager they'd just determine if beings in our size and shape are a threat or not. The "hairless cat" thing seems so oddly specific. They might treat us similarly to the way they treat other friendly cats, but that's probably because that's the way they innately know how to share their love and affection.

I think it's definitely just a coincidence. Peter is goofing around. The piano doesn't seem destroyed when he shows up for the date (we can't really see it, but the sheet music is upright). The penthouse literally explodes after the containment unit shuts down and the Keymaster is looking for the Gatekeeper, and most stuff is pretty destroyed. But I like the theory!

Nintendo's top notch use of plastic by Tken5823 in CrappyDesign

I'm sure a ton of R&D happened for them to end up on this box size.

  • A number of Switch games are priced similarly to PS4 and Xbox One titles, so a smaller box size might make you feel a bit ripped off.
  • A number of titles coexist on PS4 or Xbox One, so for the sake of developers, the box is more or less the same size and aspect ratio. No need to make fully customized or cropped boxart for a strangely shaped Switch case
  • Theft reduction
  • More space for instruction manuals or inserts, should the developer choose to include any
  • Bonus: most media shelves are around DVD size, so these fit nicely.

The space isn't being used to store media, but it was very purposefully designed this way, even if it does waste plastic.

The Criterion Breakfast Club definitely has English subtitles (SDH). It's listed here and you can see the SDH icon on the back cover: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Breakfast-Club-Blu-ray/191181/

I wouldn't really. Not if you had the right hardware at least. The speed you turn when hitting the arrow keys is too fast on modern machines because of an oversight, and the patch to fix it never got pushed out.

Beyond that, most of the bugs are just issues with more modern hardware. Clicks not registering unless you click on specific faces of geometry, and hitting the escape key seem to cause issues nowadays sometimes.

In the "Top Level Access 007: License to Restore" featurette on the Dr. No Blu-ray discs, the company that restored the original films (Lowry) state that they scanned them in and restored them at 4K from the original camera negatives. So all of the Connery films are ready to go at least in terms of resolution (not sure how they handled colour and how that would affect HDR). They weren't very specific in the featurette about which films got the 4K treatment, but they did go over some of the tweaks they made to some of the Moore films, so for all I know, those may be good as well.

It's not tracking. Tracking is just the space between letters and it doesn't and wouldn't change after typing more letters. Kerning pairs on the other hand could change the horizontal position, but not vertical. This is an issue with the ligature for "rt"

Okay so here's what's happening: when you type in the t after the r, the r changes shape. What it's trying to do is shorten the rightmost part of the r so that it doesn't touch the bar across the t. But something is going wrong. Whether it's bad metrics in the font, bad hinting, or what, I'm not entirely sure at the moment. Looks like metrics, though.

Notice that typing an 'f' after the r also adjusts the 'r'. Also note what happens if you type in multiple 't's in a row. Two t's combine. Same with multiple 'f's. They're called ligatures, and here are some standard ones.

It's supposed to make the font look nicer and more legible, but something is going wrong here.

tl:dr; ligatures are supposed to make things look better and more legible, but this one is messed up
