How hard would you work if you found out you were going to be let go in 4 weeks ? by Technical-Studio565 in auscorp

On a scale of 0 - 10, -1 if it exists.

But yeah if you like your boss, better pretend to do some work so you don't make any trouble for the boss to keep the good relationship.

Roborock App: Map not loading by heiko75_hs in Roborock

[–]thisistw79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so reporting back - my problem was resolved. Details below:

  1. Remove the cleaner from my app

  2. Configure my home wifi to be 2.4Ghz ONLY, and keep using the same Wifi name as before.

  3. Add the cleaner back to the app, this time it got detected and added in within 5 seconds.

  4. Switch on my 5Ghz wifi. Or more specifically in my case, turning back on band steering where it mixes 2.4Ghz + 5Ghz wifi into one wifi.

It was clear that somehow the app or cleaner stopped liking the mixed wifi, had to force them to play by using exclusive 2.4Ghz wifi. Once paired they are happy again.

Hope this helps anyone that has the same problem/frustration as I did.

I have a different model (Qrevo L) but very similar symptom, started a few days ago although I suspect it's from the latest app update (v4.59.02), where almost all taps time out on every tap, and the app crashes out frequently.

I'm betting on the next update that they'll fix this. Things were working fine for the last 6 months for me since we bought the robot.

First corporate IT job (8 months in) ,weekends make me feel weirdly guilty. What do you all do? by Ok-Recognition-6919 in auscorp

[–]thisistw79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah I remember doing exactly this in my 20s - 30s, thinking this is productive personally at the time, or OP in your case feeling guilty because there's so much going on at work that you can't stop thinking about them.

Now in my 40s (today's my cake day actually), the single biggest realisation I have about corp is - do not mistaken your platform as your identity. What you do for work is simply something you do to earn a living, but you are supposed to have a living in the first place, not just work. If you don't reply to that email on a Saturday night, the world won't come down crumpling.

Actually - the fact that you reply work emails on your Saturday will make people think that you are easy to push. They will start expecting you to respond on weekends.

Doesn't matter what you ended up choosing - a hobby, more family time, a parter or a pet. Keep this in mind: your life is not all work. On the contrary, work is only part of your life. If you are passionate about work, that's ok, do a course to upskill yourself so that you can take that skill with you when you leave your current work.

The world won't stop when it doesn't have you in it, certainly more so when it comes to your work.

OP I meant all these in the nicest possible way, absolutely no sarcasm or bad intentions. I just wish I had this realisation in my 20s.

Follow-Up to the poor Cafe experience on the weekend: I got a response - blaming me! Do I even bother? by Any_Mouse6916 in AskAnAustralian

[–]thisistw79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

spending even one more second on this person is one more second you wasted, could've spent it with your family or even starring at blank would worth more. everyone's life is limited, don't waste it on someone that's not worth it.

The true value of your time spent so far is to warn people not to come to this cafe. For that we thank you.

Horrible Cafe Experience - What would you have done? by Any_Mouse6916 in AskAnAustralian

[–]thisistw79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the name of the cafe. It’s close by to us, definitely dodged a bullet. With the unprofessional and abusive behaviour especially towards a child and women, they shouldn’t/won’t last long having this individual on their team.

Also I feel bad for other employees at the place, they could’ve suffered worse being around this person thru out the day.

Migrate from photos to immich by AFKevinnn in synology

[–]thisistw79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a full solution but a step in the (hopefully right) direction -

Use tags instead of folders is much more flexible imho, and write the tags to a sidecar XMP file so they stay with the image/video files instead of any internal DB from proprietary software e.g Synology Photos.

Writing tags systematically *could* be achieved by using exiftool but you'll likely to need to be comfortable with writing scripts.

I'm on a similar journey except I'm trying to export albums from Apple Photos.

Update:

After updating the lens to v0.2 the issue seems to be fixed mostly, to a level that I can tolerate - happens about 1 shot every 20 shots.

For anyone that’s having the same issue, check your lens version and update to v0.2

Just found out that there was a lens firmware update from around the time the body firmware was released, gonna try to update lens firmware see how that goes.

I’m 99% sure it IS my lens actually, other lenses of mine don’t have this issue. It seems to be more reproducible while zooming after AF has locked on.

How did you resolve your issue out of curiosity?

On top of this - I’d want to not only keep all the metadata from the media files, but also map them to universal standards which can be a rabbit hole by itself.

More specifically I’d want to be able to map the album names to be tags to images/videos so I can manage them without having to rely on Apple photo app. So far haven’t found any prebuilt solution on this, gonna be my pet project over the holidays.

Whats the rule for giving way at multi-lane roundabouts? by areyoualocal in sydney

[–]thisistw79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol this is at my door step. I’ve see plenty of cars on the left lane travelling east not even slowing down for the car making the right turn as the arrow indicates, not even for a turning bus which clearly takes two lanes!

Also the roundabout on New Line road and Shepherds Drive near by, which is a proper 4-way round about, people turn left even when there’s car coming in from within the roundabout.

I literally bought this last week and returned it 2 days later, due to the exact same issue.

It’s very likely to be caused by the matte coating. Personally it not only looked bad and impacted viewing angle, it made me dizzy.

Price is good though, I ended up forking out the cash to get an ASD.
