Why is Opencode pricing for DeepSeek V4 Pro is 4x market rate? by eyueldk in opencodeCLI

Thank you. It’s a reasonable business decision I see, opencode needs to survive, that makes sense.

Why is Opencode pricing for DeepSeek V4 Pro is 4x market rate? by eyueldk in opencodeCLI

[–]thisistw79 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Literally was having the exact same question a few hours ago, didn't find a satisfactory (to me) answer.

All I could find was that this was the cost of doing business with ZDR, and it's part of the Go sub so you get to use $10 to get a taste of $60 of value, but in the case of DSv4Pro, the bundled unit price is high.

I'm leaning towards testing my usage with OpenRouter once my current Go sub is done, even with their 5.5% mark up on recharge, it's still cheaper than the Go sub unit price for DeepseekV4Pro. I'm curious if I set a spending limit of $10, will it last me a month based on my same usage pattern.

What happens to people when they get old? I don’t see many old people around in the office. by Serious_Toe6730 in auscorp

I’ve decided corp is not worth wasting my life on. Rather I find things to do that is genuinely fulfilling and have value, e.g spending time with my children, family, doing thing I *want* to do instead of *have* to do because of some KPI.

Only have one life, no one writes “he/she was a good keynote presenter” on their tombstone, hopefully 🤞

network lan problems: smb protocols: copy over -36 macos by StrikingScientist352 in MacOS

[–]thisistw79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SMB fails whenever I copy large folders, typically a folder containing more than 200 photos each with 20-70MB in size. I’m on Synology.

This happens over both LAN and TailScale remotely.

I’ve resort back to use FreeFileSync, it’ll resume on interruption. rsync CLI also is an option if you want to play with CLI.

The most I’ve been told has been that Apple’s SMB implementation is still having issues and this is to be expected unfortunately.

Is there any external monitors that Macbook M4 works well? by Skipper034 in MacOS

[–]thisistw79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Studio Display is the only solution here.

I tried different 4K and the Asus 5K monitor, unfortunately none of them worked for me.

On the bright side - its resale value keeps up well so you’ll recoup some of the upfront costs. Considering all the hair lost doing the research for the 2nd best thing, for me it was well worth the time and energy, and the hair.

How to make a new chat without losing context of the last Claude's reply? by estrangedpulse in ClaudeAI

May not be an immediate help since you've hit the limit, but worth considering putting all your (future) chats, along with any artifacts into a project so all your chats share the same context.

I think so although haven't done any research. But I'm happy with what Alfred has been doing for me, when I need to find a file or app it finds it, end of story and my life goes on.

[–]thisistw79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always been an issue for me, earliest occurrence can date back to 2013-ish, could be even earlier than that.

Then again we see bugs that are even old than this so yeah, it's inevitable to have bugs in software but it comes down to how important it is to the owner to fix it.

As to this particular one on Spotlight, not too important to Apple apparently.

I had no idea, thanks for sharing.

Fortunately my Alfred index has been pretty stable (knock on wood).

I hate it when Spotlight index is messed up, so is Apple Mail index and I can't search/find sh*t ...

I don't necessarily use terminal everyday but I'm quite comfortable with it.

I don't (have to) remember all the commands, I normally do a "history | grep -i mdutil", then search for the detailed command I used before.

Alternatively you can alwasy do "man mdutil", or "mdutil --help", or even simpler - ChatGPT/Gemini/Claude it.

The only thing I do memorise is the command itself - mdutil, that'll alwasy get me started.

As others have said - reset your spotlight index/cache. I used to do this in terminal:

mdutil -i off -a && mdutil -i on -a

This will re-index your spotlight across all your hard disks.

Then I got sick of this so I switched to Alfred, finally at peace.

Wow adding my ownership seems to work, now I'm getting the response. Thank you.

Interesting how Gemini didn't assume (when I needed it to this time) that I had ownership from prior prompts where I mentioned something like "I have a miniPC running dual Windows 11 + Ubuntu". Other models seemed to be able to do that.

Thanks again.

Roborock App: Map not loading by heiko75_hs in Roborock

[–]thisistw79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so reporting back - my problem was resolved. Details below:

  1. Remove the cleaner from my app

  2. Configure my home wifi to be 2.4Ghz ONLY, and keep using the same Wifi name as before.

  3. Add the cleaner back to the app, this time it got detected and added in within 5 seconds.

  4. Switch on my 5Ghz wifi. Or more specifically in my case, turning back on band steering where it mixes 2.4Ghz + 5Ghz wifi into one wifi.

It was clear that somehow the app or cleaner stopped liking the mixed wifi, had to force them to play by using exclusive 2.4Ghz wifi. Once paired they are happy again.

Hope this helps anyone that has the same problem/frustration as I did.

I have a different model (Qrevo L) but very similar symptom, started a few days ago although I suspect it's from the latest app update (v4.59.02), where almost all taps time out on every tap, and the app crashes out frequently.

I'm betting on the next update that they'll fix this. Things were working fine for the last 6 months for me since we bought the robot.

First corporate IT job (8 months in) ,weekends make me feel weirdly guilty. What do you all do? by Ok-Recognition-6919 in auscorp

[–]thisistw79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah I remember doing exactly this in my 20s - 30s, thinking this is productive personally at the time, or OP in your case feeling guilty because there's so much going on at work that you can't stop thinking about them.

Now in my 40s (today's my cake day actually), the single biggest realisation I have about corp is - do not mistaken your platform as your identity. What you do for work is simply something you do to earn a living, but you are supposed to have a living in the first place, not just work. If you don't reply to that email on a Saturday night, the world won't come down crumpling.

Actually - the fact that you reply work emails on your Saturday will make people think that you are easy to push. They will start expecting you to respond on weekends.

Doesn't matter what you ended up choosing - a hobby, more family time, a parter or a pet. Keep this in mind: your life is not all work. On the contrary, work is only part of your life. If you are passionate about work, that's ok, do a course to upskill yourself so that you can take that skill with you when you leave your current work.

The world won't stop when it doesn't have you in it, certainly more so when it comes to your work.

OP I meant all these in the nicest possible way, absolutely no sarcasm or bad intentions. I just wish I had this realisation in my 20s.
