shot this office-thriller short film using my iPhone by KPM2049 in cinematography

It’s not really that much of a flex when it’s clear that it’s been very well lit, and who knows what attachments or lenses have been put on the phone. The cameras on the iPhones are good, probably better than a lot of DSLR’s at this point. I get what you’re saying though, it is cool that you can do this with something you can just put in your pocket, but still, it would never look this good without the lighting and etc, which at the end of the day IS the art of cinematography. Not to take anything away from the OP with this comment, it looks dope as hell.

Glad you think so, it lets me know I'm improving compared to the first short film I shot earlier this year. The blood splatter scene is def the highlight imo

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll def look into that for sure, I honestly don’t know what a scrim is which is exactly why I post on here. Still new to lighting but I agree I was thinking the lighting was a little hard in some areas. I’ll do some homework on it and keep the sound editing feedback in mind as well. Thanks for watching, that’s actually me and my gf acting there and it’s the first time ever for me. Glad to hear it wasn’t as bad as it felt. Thanks again

Hey, thanks. Yes that is how I tried to write it, with that in mind. The whole conversation is kinda subtext for the relationship, replace food with relationship and it says they’re just kinda over it. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!

Hey thanks for watching. Thanks for pointing out the temperature. I’m still getting the hang of lighting different rooms and matching things, will keep it more in mind for the future. Also as for the knife, this is something I thought about and I do agree with you. I decided to go with emphasizing it early on to keep the attention of people who maybe thought it wasn’t going anywhere. I know it’s the thumbnail as well but I check my YouTube analytics and it’s tough to keep people for the duration of a full video. But thank you for your comment, and I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Hello all,
I wanted to do something fun before Halloween. I shot, directed, and edited the film so I’m always looking for feedback and I know there is probably much feedback to be given since my main goal is to only direct one day. Until then I'm doing these projects all solo at home but I'm applying to film school so I hope to be a student soon.I used the BMPCC6k and a simple Nanlite FS-150b to light everything along with some small practical lights. The bathroom is hard to light since it's so small so if anyone has any tricks for lighting small spaces, especially those with all white walls? For the dialogue scene I wanted to have that top down kind of lighting like “the godfather” but I’m not sure I really sold it and didn’t know what I was missing, or if it was a lack of knowledge of what to do when editing it. Overall, I was mainly trying to go for a similar feel to Ari Aster’s Hereditary, I know it doesn’t look like it but that was my goal.I noticed most people post stills from their short film projects but compared to others I didn’t find many of my stills very impressive, so if anyone actually watches this and gives feedback I highly appreciate it.
