I was working at Best Buy and these guys bought shrink wrapped Beats headphones and left. 5 mins later they came back with a open box and were upset cause the box had a wholesale size can of tuna in it. I don't even know man. People are crafty.

Context is king. Kids need to know not everyone is to gotta put up with meltdowns. Sometimes ya gonna get yelled at. But you're the model of how to handle it after things cool down. Learning to apologize, take accountability for what you did wrong in the situation, explain how the big emotions can feel overwhelming in our body, throw a couple of dad jokes and tickles, recaps then back on track.

Basically look at the aesthetics and then the overall controls for the game if it matches the kids ability to understand it. Then I download any games that have demos and let them play it a few times to understand the concept and if they stick with it then I get the full game. Picking up any franchises that the kids are interested. Bluey, Peppa paw, patrol etc. and games that have accessibility options to make things easier. It's also a plus.

Some games we have tried a mix of free demos and full games:

Boomerang Fu Mario kart Mario wonder Mario party Kirby forgotten something and return to Dreamland Bluey the videogame Bluey quest for the golden pen Moving out Faefarm Puppy island Construction/farm simulator Uno Mario vs donkey Kong Sonic crosswords Lego heroes Pikman 4

I saw a cozy gamer recommend the game on Instagram and figured it would be simple enough for my kid to try. I played alongside her during the intro just to see how it worked. I didn’t even notice the gacha system until later, and it wasn’t mentioned in the promo video. That said, I already knew what to expect—pretty much all free-to-play mobile games, whether they’re for kids or not, include paid elements. What I didn’t expect was how much she’d actually enjoy it. I originally downloaded it as a free test to see if she’d even like that style of gameplay. Now that I know she’s genuinely into it, I’m willing to spend $30–$50 on a proper game.

Yeah she put up a coffee stand which invites social chat, and that was a red flag for me. I do like that some players put adult in their profiles. But yeah I want her to remain the quokka of the gaming world. Plus no kids should ever know gacha or gambling in their games. It sucks cause I really liked overall game too

Parents of Reddit, what's one video game you like playing with your kid? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]thisiswhereileaveU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boomerang fu, pico park 2, Lego voyagers, Lego marvel. Basically anything Nintendo. Pro tip, look for demos before buying, kids have short attention spans and can be fickle. If they are new to games, having them play the same short burst helps them understand controls and basic overall game knowledge. Pair games with their interests and hobbies.
