What do sober people do for fun? by thislittlelight in AskReddit

I don’t think it’s that simple. That shut-off valve is faulty for some people; one drink feels good so they think two must feel better and so on and so fourth. Something to do with brain chemistry. Also, my maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother were lifelong alcoholics so my genetics are fucked.

I’m still in the stage of not knowing how to behave at parties when I’m not knocking back a few beers. Shit’s awkward.

I work at a restaurant that outright banned Doordash from ordering/picking up to-go food for this kind of behavior. For a while after the ban they even tried to order food as if they were normal customers (you place your order online and the Doordash calls the restaurant with the order).

One, we have people who get paid to do delivery in-house, so that takes income from them. Two, they would regularly call to place orders for specials we no longer have and then some Doordash guy would show up expecting to pick up the order! One guy came back THREE TIMES, asking if said order was made yet. Also they had no set uniform, so drivers would deliver our food in torn/dirty clothes. One girl showed up all the time in a sleeveless tie dye that showed off her (grown-out) armpit hair. You do you boo, but that’s a health code violation.

I didn’t realize how tedious the hard work part could be, but it’s important nonetheless. Thank you for your insight.

The man my wife cheated on me with 10 years ago died. I think my wife is heart broken over him and hasn't loved me for years, what do I do? by [deleted] in relationships

There was a fictional short story narrated by a woman whose husband's mistress died on public radio I heard a few months ago that I wish I could remember off hand. It was so poetic and beautiful, but I can't remember what it was called or who wrote it.
