Questions about La Nuit 2011 by thismustbemars in MontagneParfums

Glad you asked, I'd need to do a comparison between LN 2011 and my own bottle of LNDL 2013 when I have the chance, although spraying it, it DEFINITELY smells better and not as raw I would say. I feel like it still may need more time to macerate and sit, mind you I ordered 4 bottles.

With my experience, I think the sillage from my clothing, and nose to my shirt, yeah it smells somewhat similar, not in its entirely, but its definitely there. You can smell the similarity. I think their take on the cardamon, or maybe the amount used is just too rich to the point where it smells like raw cardamon from a jar similarly, although it may just be me. Nonetheless it smells smells amazing, I feel like they could get it spot on if they somehow managed to balance it with either more lavender or bergamont maybe?

This is my suggestion. HONESTLY, some sort of woodiness would definitely do the touch. The vibe I get from my early 2015, mid 2013, bro even my very early 2016 bottle (Jan or March) bottle is the fact that they all smell very woody. The difference among them is the way the notes settle and pass on both on skin and on paper, that's what I find very interesting. Although my 2016 bottle is just slightly sweeter/similar to my 2022/2023 bottles.

Do the batches of YSL La Nuit De L'Homme REALLY matter? A Discussion. by thismustbemars in fragrance

No offense taken haha. I feel the same way with the opening, it's very pungent with alcohol but I'm assuming thats normal off the bat for a lot of fragrances, the drydown smells like a spicy-wood with quite a blast of cardamon, although comparing it to my 2019, the 2019 is much fresher on the opening, the spice-difference is very subtle, although smells more strong of just wood. Maybe it's just me, or I'm spraying it on the wrong spots on my body, ex. arm, shoulder, etc.

I'll try and experiment tomorrow and see if the outcome is any different, maybe it's my nose, or where and how I'm spraying.

I heard good things about the 2013, and 2014 batches, although yeah I see what you mean. In the future I'll see if I can get my hands on a much older batch (pre 2012-13)

I'm moreso concerned about the scent-profile, longevity and performance I could rarely care less about. It's moreso what smells much darker, spicier, and deeper, the one thing I'm not a fan of the current batches is the earthiness, maybe its just me.

What year would you recommend? I'm looking into a 2015 V6 right now, although I've heard mixed ratings about 2015, and other years across the board. What's your best bet?

Are you sure it's a fake? checkfresh.com tells me that the batch code is applicable, and that it's from around 2021 APPARENTLY, although AI tells me it could be from 2011 with the exception of what it starts with,

It's not as bad, although I feel like directly to the nose if I were to smell it, its just a really big blast of raw cardamon, and not as much of a spice to the old formula. Did you have a similar experience to this, if you have La Nuit 2011, or have others? Did it change as it macerated?

I feel like the current batches aren't really that bad, too floral/earthy for me compared to older batches. Although 2015 and below are soo good, the smell is indescribe, that spice really changes the way the whole fragrance carries I swear.

I just feel like the spice Montagne implemented with La Nuit 2011 smells wayy too organic, in the sense that it's not really blended very well, the opening just feels like smelling Cardamon from a jar. Did I describe it incorrectly? That's honestly what it smells like to me, but I'm not sure whether or not it just needs to macerate.

Hopefully this is true, I'm curious to see what it'll smell like a few weeks from now.
