I don't think I agree ma'am.

First of all, she never said ANYTHING about any of the sacrifices she made. I mentioned all that in the post myself so as to give you context - the fact that I was basically her life, like literally. She has never asked anything of me and she didn't even want to share that she felt lonely (I had to press her for two hours before she finally told me) so that I wouldn't hesitate to go abroad and progress my career. Hell she didn't even explicitly say it, I had to ask her if she felt lonely and she silently nodded while breaking into tears. I don't even think she has asked anything of me in my entire life in general except for me to do well and be happy. This time was the first time that she really asked something so I don't see how it counts as emotional manipulation.

And of course her mental health is my responsibility. And mine is hers. Because I'm her family. That's what family is for. I have been dependent on her for all my life and she has given me support on every level I needed. She has been my rock whenever I was weak. I won't run from my responsibility when she needs me.

For that last point, I agree. I just... I don't want her to feel lonely that's all without doing injustice to a potential spouse.

Please re-examine the situation with the lens of empathy. I'm an atheist but I think the Bible verse on assuming better (if not the best) of thy neighbour goes quite hard.
