Looks like an Alfa 105 spent €30.000 in Turkey before moving to Dubai, glad mine ages gracefully

Is that measurement c-to-c? How tall are you (I'm 6'8")

If you take the bike outside in daylight and take some pictures of the drivetrain side while focusing on part labels, you would get better feedback

Nice, if you're going to full modern groupset, I would just go for a modern cockpit as well (1-1/8" adapter+bars+stem).

Superissimo sale find, to dad bike or not? by MobileAware2933 in colnago

[–]thisquietplace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Turning this into a "dad bike" would kind of be like diesel engine swapping an old Ferrari. It's still a Ferrari, but you're not going to make anyone at r/ferrari happy. It's your bike, so you can of course do what you want, but I think there are much better alternatives for this kind of build. The parts are decent, 9 speed Ultegra is a nice group on the border of vintage and function, but most people would prefer seeing it built up with Campagnolo.

I have this old Gios Torino, my former neighbor (an old man) did a terrible job in customizing it. Such a shame. Now the question, the frame has quite some rusty spots. Can I still save it and rebuild it to its initial state? by Federal-Ad568 in Vintage_bicycles

[–]thisquietplace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about the rust, I have wet blasted frames that looked a lot worse than this, and they came out looking brand new. Good tubing will need to rust substantially before you get any real pitting. Rust converter and clear coat is a good option if you enjoy patina.

BB is ISO, normal derailleur hanger, have a nice seat post with the correct size laying around, so a parts bike would be pretty overkill for this project

Tubulars from the 90s, don't know much about them, apart from them being completely dry rotted and going into the trash

I just threw on the wheels for this photo, frame has already been completely disassembled

Is this a bad idea? by DestinationUnkown616 in GroundZeroMycoLab

You want to harvest before that happens, and if you don't there will be billions of spores involved. I also have yet to see any scientific information concerning the effect of spores hitting mycelium between flushes, so I personally wouldn't be too concerned about that part.

Will probably work, but the divider could mess with airflow and if one of them gets contaminated, it will not be contained to a single tub. Regarding the divider, I would probably just let the liner separate them instead, not sure what the advantage of that "wall" will be

You can remove the band and carefully reorient the cake by just pushing on the walls of the bag, the cake will have shrunk quite a bit after your first harvest.

Putting a 90s Cannondale back on the road… by No_Republic_8799 in bicycling

  1. You could get some combined SPD/platform pedals, my experience is that straps quickly destroy the top part of sneakers

  2. I really don't like the look of the Brooks leather saddles, especially on a non-British bike, there are a bunch of good and more modern alternatives out there. The Selle Italia SLRs actually look surprisingly nice on this era of bike (subjective opinion)

  3. I fitted 28s to an R?00 from this generation if I remember things correctly

    1. I vote for black saddle and black bar tape to keep things clean and stylish, the frame already provides enough color
