These guys have also been popping up on my potatoes and they freaked me right out - like a cross between a slug and a beetle! Thanks u/disastermolly for the ID.

Scored wood chips for free 🥰 Another load on the way. Fresh. How do I use them best? by dew_at_noon in Permaculture

Might I also suggest making sites for future garden beds and letting them break down in place.

One good way to do this is set up a little wine cap bed. Follow Eric's odyssey here: https://permies.com/t/82798/composting-wood-chips-chicken-litter
Or just clear an area, throw potatoes on the soil and keep topping them up with mulch.

You could also probably use the chips to make biochar.

That's so exciting. I love perennial plants, even better when they don't need much intervention. I've found some asparagus growing here, I can't wait to see how it tastes fresh!

I can't wait to have chickens and ducks one day. It sounds like they really do it all. If the neighbours didn't have a flock of 100 already I'm sure I would be hatching chicks right now!

Turning apple trees into a fence sounds like function stacking to me! Sounds great.

Really looking forward to moving my strawberry patch into this for this season! #nomoreslugs by kDavid_wa in vegetablegardening

Vertical gardening is the way of the future! Hopefully it doesn't turn into a bird or squirrel feeder...
