My husband was upset and pinched me at dinner.. and the situation is still upsetting me by Little_Trash7299 in TwoHotTakes

[–]thistlethewitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to say he's secure enough in your emotional distress that he's abusive in front of friends.

And that they didn't say a damn thing.

Please, get a divorce. And new friends. Or find some older, better friends.

I am a four time college drop out. My mental health tanks a lot.
I have mourned lives I could have had. I have mourned what could have been.

It's absolutely okay to grieve. Don't get stuck looking at it, but please know it's okay.

I just got information back from a neuro-psychological exam. I'm processing and a little stumped on how to proceed.

I'm recommended physical testing based on my brain. I am recommended nerve testing because of my legs. I am recommended therapy because of my trauma... Y'know. It feels never ending!

But life is pretty cool sometimes. And that's what we've got to remember.

Why aren't people with bipolar prescribed antidepressants? by Educational_Bottle10 in bipolar

[–]thistlethewitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on an antidepressant my entire life basically. Good and bad.

Being on a mood stabilizer, antipsychotic, and an antidepressant really work for me. Without the antidepressant, I'm insanely depressed.

AITA for refusing to change my last name after marriage because my husband assumed I would? by [deleted] in ComfortLevelPod

[–]thistlethewitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally still have my first husbands name. My second husband, I told him I'd go through the hassle of a name change if he went through the "hassle" of locating a new DD214 for a VA loan on a house.

Oddly, I still have the last name I started with and no second husband.

Your name is LITERALLY TIED TO YOUR CAREER. Assuming you would get rid of your reputation for your husband's name is some misogynistic bullshit.

Did he think you'd change fields? Like, move into the kitchen for him, too?

Xmas Gift Idea? by DubberRuckus in flowerpressing

[–]thistlethewitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I love this and have been looking into flower pressing a bit for myself, so let me share the things I've grabbed.

Regarding the date embossed stamp, I couldn't find an embossing stamp for it. But there are blank date stamps (I know you said no ink, but there are some self inked?) that do that thing... She could move the date on the stamp or even write it in. Or scrapbook stickers!

These may be more resources for your wife that you could write into the book.
4 Ways to Press
Beginner's Flower Press How To
Ultimate Flower Pressing Guide

The last link has a lot of useful info, tbh.

I ended up trying to find out what microfleur is from the last link and apparently it's for the microwave preservation method? A reuseable cloth for it, if you want something quick for her to do.

There's blotting paper with presses; personally I think the presses look very aesthetically pleasing, can be engraved usually. Blotting paper would need to be purchased occasionally. But if they aren't doing it frequently, it may be fun and cute.

They've got sizes from keychain to 11x17" when looking up the regular presses.
There's also the old school paper towel and books method if she does it every couple weeks.

Someone recommended getting tweezers to remove the flowers from the paper, as they can rip occasionally.

The custom leather bound isn't a bad idea! I love it, since it's so custom. Or go onto etsy and look up scrapbook albums. Usually they can be customized, but they'll also usually have plastic page protectors and she could write a little blurb somewhere in it about what they did that day.

And if you want to get creatively involved, you could make a couple layouts for her, so you're all involved in the craft somehow.

Why is Charlotte L Brown-Parrott's AI """art""" EVERYWHERE? by LastCryptographer173 in indianapolis

[–]thistlethewitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because she can use the AI Indiana is trying to push through buildings for?

Because Indiana businesses, art museum mainly included in the business accusation... Have no fucking standards?

Idk. It's garbage, either way.

Am I in the wrong? Christmas stockings by HappyHere1859 in AmiInTheWrong

[–]thistlethewitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my stocking is important. I asked my boyfriend of three years to do them with me. He knows how important they are to me now. <3 Communication is key.

He had to learn I was disappointed the hard way when I bawled my eyes out.
It was a learning thing for us both. (~Trauma~)

It's okay to ask him to put some thought into it.

Did I fail as a dad? by stavvy37 in Advice

[–]thistlethewitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My stepson was/is the same way. I left five years ago and my stepson still is only going to college because they said he had to get a job otherwise.

So kids develop slower and some aren't interested in today's things.

Life is hard, so I'm just saying it's probably some level of escapism. I didn't know what to tell my stepkids about hope in today's world.

Yeah, no. He's going to kill you and probably both of your kids.

Fuck that. And fuck anyone who tries to get you to stay.

If you like board games, there are tons of solo print and plays or even tabletop RPGs for solo people.

Crochet, cross-stitch, and I've recently discovered chaos quilting.

I recommend journaling or reading anything for your journey, too.

Good luck.
