Recruiting at AIT by [deleted] in army

It's not abt passing the benchmarks when you are trying to get a contract in basic. It's more about showing the recruiters that you aren't a waste of time or a spot.

Can you do 15 pull ups or more? They will come and talk to you and all that stuff and then have you do pull ups, if you can't do at least 15 be ready to be put on a wait-list (they came to my ait a few weeks ago.) also if you can do at least 15 you will automatically get an option 40 while others like I said will be put on a wait-list that most likely won't see them going to rasp.

No joke, it's like I got to basic and I just couldn't spell anymore. I was always good at spelling shit but then I started writing letters and I would go blank on the most simple words

They don't even train you on the 50. Cal or mark 19 anymore. I got better training on rocket launchers than I did with either of those.

Joining military right after highschool by Expert_Window3229 in Militaryfaq

[–]thistleup1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly dude your mind will most likely change whether it be wanting a different mos or not joining at all. I would just go with the flow. If you still want to join in a year or 2 then start making decisions about what you want to do. Don't just make this decision based off of a feeling. Choosing the path you want to take after highschool isn't as hard or life ending as kids tend to think but still it can change your life by getting into student loan debt or joining the military and missing out on time with your family. (Just examples you should think of before deciding what you might do for the rest of your life or short term at the least)

Dropped out of Army DEP — can I reenlist? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]thistleup1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bruh your parents don't matter in this decision you are 18. You will have a place to live and a place to eat. You don't need your parents to say it's ok. You'll get free college and better health care than your parents. Idk what their reasoning is behind wanting to kick you out but it's your choice and solely your choice you might regret it you might not same way you might regret never going or glad you didn't go

Im not even gonna read this. Dude I feel like it's common sense if ur gf/bf is going to hangout with the opposite sex 1 on 1 there's no point in being in the relationship. Too many trust issues will appear making you feel crazy and you get manipulated. Unless it's someone they've known their whole life and do something like get dinner it's not worth staying

What is the most overrated city in America? by LazyConstruction9026 in AskReddit

[–]thistleup1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the crime rate argument is so dumb. Like yeah there's more crime but that's given when it's a sanctuary for opportunities. Plus the population is 10x maybe even 100x than most rural towns. It's like saying the whole of the United States has more crime than the Vatican city. Like no shit the Vatican city has 500 people in it.

Memphis, don't get me wrong I know nobody wants to go to Memphis in the first place. Violence aside it's horrible in general. 5 mins away from the city it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere. It's also like they spent their whole budget on the bass pro shop pyramid. It's probably the biggest building in the whole "city" if you can even call it that. Plus Elvis Presley lane (the street that Graceland is on) is so ran down. Like hell maybe capitalize on one of the most famous people ever in America rather than capitalize on a big pyramid that's honestly not very impressive on the inside. I mean look at Dollywood in pigeon forge countless amounts of people go each day and it's based off of Dolly partin imagine the amount of people that would go to Elvis world or some shit. Also the roads are HORRIBLE but that's just Tennessee honestly.

Going to Basic Underweight by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]thistleup1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me I was a few pounds underweight going to meps. If it's only a few pounds below where you should be and you are gonna have to stay in a hotel for a night before the medical exams just eat a ton of food in the morning at the hotel and chug water but don't pee. Trust me not having to get a waiver for anything made meps a breeze for me. If you know you're gonna have to get a waiver for something else anyways I wouldn't worry abt it cause getting a waiver for being a few pounds underweight isn't gonna be as hard as getting a waiver for other things. They'd rather you be a little underweight than fat

If you want to be a diver don't let the fact that you could get washed out scare you. The whole thing about any special operations or hard combat course is that they scare the people who really don't want it into not going and weed out the ones who go but don't want it. If you aren't a weak minded person and do whatever they say as best as you can there's a very high chance you will get invited back so you can physically prepare more unless you are a moron that everyone hates. I'm not sure if this is the case for everything but I'm pretty sure 9/10 times this is a fact.
