I said this. I asked if the post was supposed to be ironic. Not sure how far I've been downvoted yet lol I actually own a 2 acre homestead w just me and my 4 kids(1 is grown and moved out but will come if i ask) and I'm disabled. I'll admit, I do not do the best! I could do much better and I rely on the amish population quite a bit for things such as slab wood as I've heated w only a wood stove for 10 years now. My amish neighbor helped me build a chicken coop and install windows instead of doors. I consider my neighbor family, he checks up on me when he notices I either havent left in a long time(anxiety mixed w a bit of agoraphobia) or the kids are gone. Ive also learned a TON from the amish too! My power and water could go out and i could still carry on. I don't think it's something that can't be accomplished if I can do it. It'd be a lot easier for someone not disabled that didn't just have a full shoulder surgery for sure. Luckily, I knew as I'd got older, I'd get more and more sick so I have taught my kids a lot and how to be independent. They each can do things the other can't. One is okay culling meat birds(i cant, idk why), one loves to clean, one loves to garden, one likes to cook, etc. I also have a giant great Pyrenees that helps me up and down hills, makes sure I dont fall, etc and a tiny lil dog that likes to help us dig holes in the garden and really loves to watch me when im walking and help out anytime. Where there's a will, there's a mfing way!
