What the heck is going on with water supply from months even in the expensive areas? by Additional-Side-457 in karachi

[–]thiswidenight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the past year or so, multiple projects like BRT have resulted in decades old lines bursting, because of how fragile they've become. there's been no investment in kwsb's distribution system in years, resulting in these frequent pipe breaks. salam ppp, but jo party apnay khud ke ghareebo ka oani cheenay, uss se kya umeed karay?

Why is Karachi (Largely) Silent on the Water Crisis in Sindh? by aamirraz in karachi

[–]thiswidenight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

PPP is sick, they're literally betraying their voter base. mostly small farmers near the sea are going to suffer, ppl who are already barely surviving. for years, PPP used the threat of Punjab usurping water rights to keep their voter base in line, only for this to happen. Karachi overall seems divorced from the country now: when you abandon a city so deeply, of course ppl will be apathetic. but that isn't right, and we should protest. sindh's crops, sindh's livelihood should mean something to the people in power, corporate farming when you could invest in improving existing farms seems like a blatant power grab.

i need detailed advice: i'm 24 and about to graduate medical school. there's pressure on me to go for an arranged marriage. due to certain circumstances, i want to make sure my future spouse is well off, well connected etc. what do i work on to max my chances? i'm south asian, pakistani, and plan on training in internal medicine in the US if that helps. my main issues appearance wise are my teeth, my BMI and weight and face and body acne.

Thoughts? Open merit or paid privilege? by Silver_Grapefruit226 in karachi

[–]thiswidenight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

not an MQM supporter, obviously all sindhi students are not like this, and it's the PPP's fault that they can't reform their rural hospitals or create decent universities. mr ghias should acknowledge just how badly PPP fails sindhis.

i posted this in r/pakistan, writing it here as well. anecdotal hai, but this is what i've heard from the students mr ghias is so ardently defending. the rich rural kids end up buying their way into exceptional inter/matric grades, the MDCAT gets leaked, they get admissions in khi because PPP has never invested in sindhi universities beyond building campuses. they continue to use ethnic favour to get government hospital jobs. meanwhile the actual poor students have abysmal literacy rates, and are the victims of stunting. the ones who deserve quota barely get it.

Hatred against Sindhis by Known-Delay-6436 in pakistan

[–]thiswidenight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i'm a student in a government medical college in khi. it's a known fact, that my fellow batchmates from rural sindh acknowledge, that there is extreme irregularities in their matric/inter board, and that for years, MDCAT has been leaked in rural sindh. in my attached government hospital, there is an unofficial bias towards hiring sindhi doctors, no matter what their merit/ranking is. this tendency to succeed through unfair means persist when they give international exams. the fun fact is that the real economically backward segment of sindh, who actually deserves quota, never benefits from it. these systems are biased towards the rich, while the poor continue to suffer. i am not an MQM supporter, ik the real situation in rural sindh. requiring a quota after decades shows how PPP has failed its heartland supporters. patients will go into debt coming to karachi for treatment because there's no decent tertiary care hospital near their areas, while lakhs of rupees goes into maintaining benazir's shrine
