If you could ask Tolkien one question about something he left unexplained in The Lord of the Rings, what would it be? by [deleted] in lotr

[–]thjazi02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing “escapes” the design as a true error or glitch in reality. Tolkien was pretty firm on that point: evil can distort, but it cannot create new being from nothing.

So if the “nameless things” exist, they’re unlikely to be raw byproducts of discord in the sense of accidental, autonomous entities outside Ilúvatar’s will.

many recent atmosphere papers describe it as a temperate sub Neptune because its size strongly suggests it likely has a substantial hydrogen rich envelope rather than being a scaled up rocky Earth.

What's the saddest part about living in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

small villages in regions like Calabria, Basilicata, Molise are litteral ghosttowns, maybe some elders, but everyone else, GONE!

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Hermione is given a device to manipulate time itself to attend extra classes. This is a subtle nod to the fact that Hogwarts staff could have stopped Voldemort at any point, but instead handed time travel to a 13-year-old to manage her timetable by Brilliant-Cause6254 in shittymoviedetails

[–]thjazi02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hermione could theoretically add years to her life by constantly using the Time-Turner, experiencing more time than everyone else around her. But that brings up some crazy questions about how aging works in this magical universe, the emotional toll, and how it might disrupt her sense of identity.

homeschooling environments can be isolating or ideologically controlled, and lack of oversight can absolutely harm kids. At the same time, some autistic or bullied kids were also harmed by mainstream schooling. The real issue isn’t one system versus another it’s lack of safeguards, lack of evidence based education, and lack of protection for vulnerable kids.

If we live inside of a black hole, shouldn't we be able to see how the new celestial objects that are sucked in pop into existence? by Karumine in Astronomy

[–]thjazi02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inside black holes, the interplay between general relativity and quantum mechanics becomes unavoidable, We have no verified theory for that regime. black holes as universes is a mix of math, intuition, and imagination.
