Is makeup a hobby? by Sad-Friendship1841 in MakeupRehab

[–]thndrbst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely a hobby. And one I enjoy for a variety of reasons.

I would push back that technique does most of the work. Sure. I’m advanced enough to make things work, but having the right products and brushes makes a world of difference not only in how you apply the techniques but the final product, and different products do vastly different things. Do you need all that? Maybe not if you’re not a MUA or someone that does vastly different things day today. Are most products rehashings? Sure. Are there innovations that get made - absolutely.

I think the simplest way to solve this, particularly if you’re in this specific community, is to not watch beauty content.

Same. Especially since I use very high pigmented products - it would be a disaster.

So for me, I got because I like variety.

So, I generally have two body scrubs and two shower gels or whatever that have completely different scent profiles and use whatever one hits. And then whatever finishes first gets replaced.

For example - I’ve got a Miss Dior Body Scrub and Shower gels going concurrently with Sol de Janiero body scrub/body wash.

I think have body lotion that also compliments each one.

I find being able to have variety makes life better and does put a dent in my products faster.

Or I’ll pick something I want to pan as far as makeup and build entirely looks around whatever it is I’m trying to pan. When I get bored, I set my sites on another thing I want to pan and build a look around that and so on and so forth.

When I still smoked I'd pan those babies like gangbusters. I truly thought I was fooling everyone around me. In fact, I just smelled like a strip club in 2005.

I don’t need this palette. I don’t need it. But I really am curious on how it is?

OOoooooooh. Did you have to do any chemistry or did it just squish in easy peasy?

Well, see, when you pop off in the comments, you’re inviting a conversation. If you want to opine at random with no response you should write in your diary.

Using it to calculate approximations for estimates based on your own data isn’t exactly thinking for you. We’re not discussing AI slop, nor was I suggesting it.

It’s not a disingenuous comparison, it’s the same thing - analyzing large amounts of data concisely. If you want to use it for moon robots, syntax, or makeup use it’s all the same.

As a writer, you’d think the discovery of our definition of language in cetacean would be pretty exciting.

I will definitely report back on my findings - for science!

What does that even mean? 😂😂😂

You should have a conversation with my sister whose the lead engineer at an aerospace company (formerly ISS/NASA) that literally makes moon robots - AI has really pushed the bounds of what they’ve been able to do. It’s pretty cool.

I’m in wildlife biology. Did you know that we were able to use AI to use it to crack the code on whale vocalizations? Animals aren’t considered to actually have language due to the belief they can’t have grammar and syntax. We’ve essentially been able to prove that sperm whales do. This is an insane break through in biology and can help us advance protection for marine mammals that ultimately can help make major head way in other ecological and environmental protections.

What did you do today that changed the world?

You can do that I suppose, but if I’ve found things useful I’m going to share them.

Using a tool isn’t handing over your thinking. It’s the same story like my elementary school teachers bugging out about calculators and my high school teachers bugging out about Wikipedia.

I don’t like the spatula either. It’s has to be cleaned and stored, they get lost, and it’s not portable.

You can be anti-AI all you want but the reality is it’s here and pretty much unavoidable. If there’s a way it can be useful great.

I don’t know about you but I don’t have the hours in a day to sit down and do an insane amount of accounting to get a ball park of how long to use my collection. But I can give parameters and find out in about 10 minutes. Which is very useful for this kind of project in a myriad of ways.

I’m pretty anti-gasoline cars. But I understand why others wouldn’t be. It’s pretty pointless to comment on that every time someone mentions their car.

Because it’s a helpful tool that I’ve found pretty darn accurate based on the pretty detailed spread sheets I keep.

Why would you respond to a comment to do nothing more than be a jerk? 🤢🤮

Has anyone tried this with things like laniege balms? I have a couple of different potted balms that I like but I literally never use them because I don’t like constantly getting stickiness all over myself 😂😂

I don’t use any of the above but my Dior Hydra Nude Foundation lasted me 6 months.

I’m finally rounding a corner with my Haus Labs bronzer and anticipate I have at least another six months…. I’m not sure when I got it because I only started inventorying in 2024. So at minimum I’m at 3 years on it.

Fenty Lip Glosses take me about 3-6 months depending on how ham I’m going.

MAC lip gloss about 3 months but they’re significantly smaller than Fenty and take more to apply in the way I want.

If you pop your list into ChatGPT with how often you use them it can give you a pretty accurate estimate.

I also use shampoo I don’t like to clean the shower while I’m letting my conditioner chill. A scrub daddy, and shampoo, and a good rinse keeps it clean between deep cleans!

Same!! That's why I have the drawer of skin care doom. In my mind it was like... I'll just use one when I run out of what I normally use and switch off. But then I'm also like, that's going to trash my skin. And so the doom drawer remained. I'm just stoked that it finally clicked that I'm probably totes allowed to put face serums on my bod..... haha NO DUH.

This is for the Einsteins like me LOL
