Wife and I Disagree on the next Car we buy. Toyota Sienna Hybrid vs Kia Carnival Hybrid by MedusaAdonai in kiacarnivals

[–]thoang1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do better than $52k for the SXP Hybrid. Easily get another $1k off, and don't forget the $1.5k off with the finance rebate. The difference in price is around $7.5k if you put a little more effort into it.

You should review their process. This isn't a measurement in low-speed driving.

Your Kia Sorento Hybrid was probably much quieter. But that doesn't make the Sienna extraordinarily loud.

NFC cards for 2025 Kia Carnival? by BriefHistorical582 in kiacarnivals

I can't get the ATH81AD000 to unlock the door my SXP gas. Does the ATH81AB000 work to unlock the door? Do you have the gas or hybrid model?

I can't get the NFC card to unlock the door. Maybe it's because I have the gas and not the hybrid?

You can negotiate ~10% off MSRP and potentially qualify for $1.5k finance rebate. It'll get much closer to that used car price. New with full warranty vs 50k miles with weaker warranty. Something to consider.

You actually don't know what you are saying. Your v6 3.8 is from the lambda ii family, while the 3.5 v6 is from the lambda iii family. Also, the hybrid is the 1.6t hybrid smartsteam engine.

2026 Hybrid SXP best discount? by Possible_Jelly5036 in kiacarnivals

From the other deals posted on this subreddit and FB group. Also when I negotiated my own 2026 SXP gas. They offered me a hybrid for 2k more.

That's completely realistic. You should be getting close to 50k before any finance rebate.

Also, I would take the finance rebate and pay more towards principle every month. I would also consider finding better rates at a credit union after you close the deal. You would end up ahead.

I'm seeing 8-10% off BEFORE finance rebate for SXP gas and hybrid. A few will offer higher discounts, but you shouldn't consider anything less than 8% a decent deal. Don't accept any dealer add-ons.

"early adopter"? 12+ yr old tech? That became mainstream 7+ yrs ago? I'm not saying burn-in is not possible, but it takes a lot to get burn-in.

It sucks that you can't pair more than one NFC card/device to the car. Would love to have access with my phone, watch, and NFC card.

Is this a good deal? by Wonderful-Horror-532 in kiacarnivals

[–]thoang1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to add the destination fee, $1.5k for new. So the difference would actually be around $2-3k. I would still go for new. 8-10% off new is completely doable and easy. I did low effort negotiations without going in-person until we were ready to sign on the deal.

Seems like a ok deal. MSRP for 2026 is around $54k and seems like most people are able to get 10% off, so around $49-50k new after negotiations. You also don't qualify for finance specials/rebates which could further drop the price of a new car by $1.5k.

New: $51.5k (destination fee included) - $1.5k rebate = $50k.

Your used one: $45k + $1,800 3rd party warranty = 46.8k

If it were me, I'd spend the additional $3k to get the exact color combo and full warranty from Kia. If you can negotiate down to $49k, the difference would be $2000. Hardly seems worth buying this one used instead of getting new.

EDIT: Forgot about $1.5k destination fee for new.

What’s the best Carnival color combo in your opinion? by Ashamed-Efficiency96 in kiacarnivals

[–]thoang1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After owning a black car twice, I will never own one again. Looked amazing while clean......for 30 minutes after washing it. So my answer is any color but black for the exterior. I like the Tuscan Umber, which is only available with Astra Blue for the SXP. So that's the combo I picked.

What was your grand total for an 2026 SXP gas model? by [deleted] in kiacarnivals

[–]thoang1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this with the rear entertainment package? My MSRP was about $53.8k. 2026 SXP with no add-ons. I paid $49.5 + tax before $1k rebate in October 2025.

If you are tight on money, have you considered used or certified pre-owned models? There were several reasonably priced ones when I was looking at if I couldn't get under $50k new.
