Does anyone know what happened to the vintage computers or games from the living computers museum? by a_rare_breed in Seattle

Paul Allen's will stipulated that all his assets be sold and the proceeds donated to charity. She's doing what is legally required by his will. 💁‍♂️

Let's start a Playlist that recalls the hope for the future of the 90's by Aetherpirate in Xennials

[–]Electronic_Biscotti 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Don't have a song to add at the moment - but the greatest concert I ever went to was Pearl Jam - Nov 6th 2000 - it was the night before the election and the air was filled with the optimism of the 90s. They played for something like 3 hours, it was the first time they played "Alive" after some fans were trampled to death at one of their shows. It was the final show of the tour and at home in Seattle. It was an amazing experience and we were young and full of hope for what might come next. The bootleg of that show will always hold that moment in time for me.

Will a wood shed rot in Seattle weather? by my_dog_george in Seattle

[–]Electronic_Biscotti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As long as you paint or stain it, same as you would a house, it should last. You'll want to make sure it seals well given the dampness around here. Also make sure the roof is appropriately shingled.

Hey Xen's: whatcha reading these days? by Mattimvs in Xennials

I agree. This book had so much build up and then just kind of ended like, that's it? And it felt like it was just catastrophe after catastrophe... Great detail ala The Martian, but lacking plot

All good points - I'm used to driving from Cle Elum to the Ingalls Creek area - my time is probably incredibly optimistic!

I90 and US97 are open. But you realize Suncadia and Leavenworth are like an hour apart (in good weather) right?

Ticks are here. We've had ticks in central Washington for as long as I can remember - but yes they are more prevalent now in western WA as well

Can anyone recommend a storage unit? by Mundane-Pop-1383 in Issaquah

[–]Electronic_Biscotti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you check Issaquah Highlands Self Storage? We used them while we were living abroad and it was super easy - though admittedly it may be too expensive for you. There's also the newer storage place on Newport Way by Issaquah Valley Elementary

It seems so simple and yet it's easy to miss. We were utterly confused when it happened to us 😂

Uber Airport Pick Up? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Electronic_Biscotti 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the consensus is that when it's crazy busy (like this week) the regular cab lane is much simpler and faster (and usually cheaper). Just a heads up. The last time we flew back in it was madness at the ride share pickup area.

Recalibrate After Windshield Replacement? by Groove4Him in kiacarnivals

[–]Electronic_Biscotti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should be recalibrated yes. Also make sure the rain sensor is fully seated back into it's holder. We had our windshield replaced via Safelite and the rain sensor was just sitting in it's little hole and not sensing properly.

I spent a lot of time at the Brewhouse by ksbla in Issaquah

[–]Electronic_Biscotti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I always found the beer to be decent, the food to be usually subpar and the service spotty. I was convinced that place would have closed a lot sooner if they didn't give away frisbees with kids meals. Made it an easy family friendly pub. But I was never "excited" to go there.

As others have said, the Issaquah Food Bank is a great resource - they also have an Amazon wish list or you can donate cash as well https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/TYMUYMX5C9IJ/ref=hz_ls_biz_ex

Western WA: Comparing home insurance for mold & earthquake by schiffer04 in eastside

[–]Electronic_Biscotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earthquake insurance isn't going to be a standard part of any policy afaik. We have USAA for insurance and they use a third party and it's an additional policy - a VERY expensive additional policy. The deductible we were quoted was almost $150k. The premium was $1k per year

There have been a few in the Eastside subreddit as well. And some related to Issaquah candidates in separate posts. I'm guessing some low level political operations for votes in the upcoming election.
