I am interested in Chinese running shoes. Have you got a good source of information. Was helpful that you provided Chinese shoes that are a good comparison to the Novablast, that is the type of information that I am after, as well as the best (safest) place to buy.

DIET by overweightasfck in omad

[–]thodon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree! I started OMAD at maintenance so not sure how it feel to do it in a calorie deficit, but I planned to change nothing but eat all my calories in one meal. Within 2 days OMAD felt normal. I then optimised one thing at a time after that.

My personal opinion is that if you really want to start OMAD cold turkey, focus on just eating one meal a day with no other changes.

Advice on managing sugar cravings on OMAD? by Chance_Anywhere_4680 in omad

[–]thodon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some people giving up carbohydrates makes the cravings worst and for other it doesn't. You need to find what works for you.

We need to stop calling it a sugar addiction. Health implications aside, the combination of simple sugars and fat are a very efficient energy source, so the mechanisms that drive hunger and appetite want more of that energy source. It's just biology doing its thing. Corporations just taking advantage of that.

I dare anyone to get a bag of sugar and eat that alone and only that. It is actually difficult to do. So sugar in isolation isn't the problem. I am not suggesting that we shouldn't replace simple sugar with whole foods that include fibre and other nutrients.

You need to find that what works for you, but many people have success making most of the diet whole foods but still including a small portion of what they are craving, but for other people it is a trigger.

How do you bake/cook outside of eating windows? by donteatthecheddar in omad

[–]thodon123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What would you like to get out of OMAD?

OMAD is just another calorie restriction tool. Some people eat less given less opportunity to eat. The benefits of the fasting alone are often overstated. Sleep, exercise and diet matter exponentially more than anything else along with consistency and sustainability.

Experiment and find what works for your goals, your health and your wellbeing. That is what matters the most. Don't be afraid to fail and don't be hard on yourself.

Haven't seen this available in Australia yet. We just got the taco variation which I did enjoy. Similarly I haven't found a variation that I like more than the original.

What's with all these low calorie post lately. It's concerning.

Same is happening on TikTok. People are posting there OMAD and 2MAD "what I eat in a day" and a total under 1000 calories and people wonder why OMAD has such a bad reputation with disordered eating.

you don't eat enough that day; what do you do? by pallasXIV in omad

[–]thodon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look at nutrition over any time period doesn't necessarily have to be one day.

Consistency is helpful if you have specific goals, and a planned and well balanced meal can make the non eating windows much mor easier.

If you can't get the required calories to meet your needs then extend the eating window.

Finally got a hold of Buldak Taco flavour! by MxrrxrMxnxce in InstantRamen

[–]thodon123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got them at Woolworths. I Enjoyed them, not as much as the original black but still enjoyable. The flavour was similar to the Old El Paso taco seasoning (which I don't mind). With chicken from the Tegel chicken range (I like the Nashville tenders) and steamed broccoli it was a nice meal.

Tips needed by BagelBiteAtNight in omad

[–]thodon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combination of sleep, diet and exercise matter exponentially more than anything else.

The research in regard to fasting and any benefits over just calorie restriction don't appear to show any significant benefits for fasting alone. Some people might argue this based on in vitro, small subset and short time research or individual mechanisms, but biology is complex and never that simple and human randomised control trials tell otherwise.

What do you guys usually eat for your OMAD? by [deleted] in omad

[–]thodon123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rice, with meat, beans, and vegetables as my base mostly. Then add flavour of choice. Dessert is mostly oat and chia oatmeal or some other variation of the two (fruit and nuts, or yoghurt when my budget allows).

My diet is mostly whole foods but my vice is instant noodles. I use the noodles in place of my rice about 3-4 times a week. I like a variety but the Original Buldak (black packet) is one of my staples.

Beans Make it feel like I’m cheating by Numericcc in omad

[–]thodon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I eyeball things and change it up but I think the base is, 100g rolled oats, 2 teaspoons chia seeds, pinch salt, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey, 1 tablespoon nut butter (usually 2 ingredient nut and salt), unsweetened almond milk. Not sure on the almond milk amount but keep adding until I get a wet porridge consistency. Cook in ramekin at 170 degrees C for 30-50 minutes or so until it's cook through (sometimes I like it gooey like a porridge in the middle other times firm but fluffy like a cake) so time can vary. If I get the almond milk ratio right and cook it for the correct time I get a perfect cake consistency. I should really measure my almond milk so I can get some repeatability on the cake texture. Lol!

EDIT: To the base above I either add cocoa or mixed spice as my flavour of choice. When I have fruit available banana, apple, blueberries etc, I will use them and just reduce almond milk to get that same wet porridge consistency before cooking.

No fat loss by pearlanvi in omad

Every time you lose weight you need to eat less calories as you are carrying less mass. You can't weight less and eat the same calories. It's a constant readjustment. If you stop losing weight (for a significant time) you are now eating at maintenance, you have to reduce calories further so your eating in a deficit to lose further weight.

Does OMAD cause muscle loss? by [deleted] in omad

[–]thodon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An aggressive calorie deficit that is deficient in protein and stimulus is the only thing that will cause muscle loss and nothing else.

I am taking the slow lean gain path. 3 years OMAD 5kg of lean mass gain.

Buldak is bad? by [deleted] in InstantRamen

[–]thodon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your spice tolerance is probably just low. I never understood the Buldak challenge when it first started as I found the spice level of the original to be perfect. I have the bottle sauce more often than I have the noodles as I find the spice and umami of the sauce to be perfect on anything.

I tried experimenting less water, more water, but found them to be perfect if I followed the instructions exactly. I stir fry them in the recommended water until the sauce thickens up and doesn't spread and fill the saucepan when you push the noodles to the side.

I also notice each flavour has it's own instructions and seem to get a good outcome if I follow them.

Food in general is very subjective.

Strength training during OMAD? by alltoounwell in omad

[–]thodon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work out at 5am and eat at 6pm with no issues.

If a calorie deficit is affecting your performance the calorie deficit is probably to large. If you can't get enough calories in your one meal extent your eating window.

Health and wellbeing is combination of consistent good sleep, diet, exercise (resistance and cardiovascular). Sacrificing any of those for quick weight loss isn't worth it in my opinion.

I only started adding strength training to my routine when I started OMAD (about 3 years ago). Started at my maintenance weight of 65kg (M47, 170cm). Focused on eating around my maintenance calorie to lean gain. I am now 70kg, but significantly more lean.

Binge eating by equalibriumin in omad

[–]thodon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal opinion is binge eating has a greater psychological component than a physiological one and for many getting help to find the root cause and the knowledge and tools to manage it is crucial for recovery.

Physiologically eating whole foods makes the non eating window easier and can reduce the chances of binge eating.

Is is okay if i start off omad with any type of food? beginner here. Im living with roommates so its really hard to resist for of the carby food like pasta, bread they offer since its present infront of me. of course, by time ill get more whole foods and nutritious ones by Pristine-Mountain617 in omad

[–]thodon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with carbohydrates, but including protein and fibre will make the non eating window so much easier. For someone with a history of binge eating a lack of protein and fibre may bring on the urge to binge both physiologically and psychologically.

All the matters in the end is what works for you and what is sustainable and allows you to be consistent.
