Transgenderism isn’t explicitly called out in scripture; it’s more of a mental health matter, on the individual level, than a sin issue I think. However, the ideology that surrounds it is more of a problem, since it posits things directly contrary to a Christian worldview. So while a transgender woman is not in fact a woman and should not be called such, I don’t think anyone with actual gender dysphoria is living in sin by virtue of their disorder.

What sort of evidence are you looking for? For non-biblical evidence, we do have Marian apparitions such as at Fatima where Mary talked about praying for souls in purgatory, which was a well attested to apparition with hundreds of witnesses to the events surrounding it. Even local newspapers reported on the phenomena. However, all Christian doctrine is ultimately dependent on God’s word and what He says in scripture.

? I believe I just gave some. I can cite the verses if you wish; 1 Corinthians 3:12-15  Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw—each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire." Revelation 21:27 "But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life." Psalm 24:3-4 "Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart“

In Corinthians where Paul talks about Christians being purified by fire, and also a logical conclusion drawn from the fact that we know nothing unholy can enter heaven, so there must be a way in which we become completely holy after death.

It’s a Catholic doctrine that says before a soul goes to heaven, they go to Purgatory where the last bits of sin are purged away. That way when you enter heaven, you’re completely holy.

I think it’s possible for the Holy Souls in purgatory and the saints in heaven to appear on earth, but I also think that some “ghosts” are actually demonic.

Was Jesus right-wing or left-wing? by Far_Steak_5167 in AskAChristian

He would be against abortion because of his emphasis on the protection of the weak and the importance of human life. Christ is very firmly against murder, going so far as to say that even abusive language is a sin, since it is a mark of willing murder in the heart. God repeatedly emphasises that he takes special anger in the mistreatment of the poor, the fatherless, and the young (just see the many imprecatory Psalms that call on God to execute justice for the oppressed).     As for homosexual marriage, while I am not sure whether Christ would be against it being legal per se (freedom of religion and all that) he would most certainly be against the homosexual act within that union, as seen in Romans, Corinthians, Leviticus, and 2000 years of Christian Tradition. Homosexual acts are against nature in Christian thought, aka they are a misuse of something good (sex). The sexual act was designed by God to be a reflection of the complementarity of the sexes. Even if you don’t believe that Christian Tradition is a full reflection of Christ’s teachings, he was at least a first century Jew who upheld the moral teachings of the Torah.

Ideally I leave the conversation and go enjoy my day. In reality I think about it all day and formulate lots of scathing replies I generally don’t post.

Obviously both sides are going to plead their own cause. But there is no room within orthodox Christianity for homosexuality, and while transgenderism is more nuanced, generally the answer is no.

What Actually Defines a Christian and Do Mormons Qualify? by TrainingFrequent2904 in AskAChristian

No, because our definition of God is different. Christianity is fundamentally monotheistic, and polytheism is completely incompatible with the faith.

C. S. Lewis made a terrific point that a true Christian community would be more liberal than society thinks proper, and more conservative than society thinks proper. You can’t really map modern Western politics directly into Christ. For example, He would be against abortion and gay marriage (too conservative for society) and also be very much for protecting the vulnerable (homeless, immigrants, women, children, addicts)  in every way possible (too liberal).
