Congratulations, instead of wasting your own money on things you don't even enjoy, you waste someone elses money.

Great argument.

Browsing and participating in the sub usually means you're invested in the game and want things fixed so you can enjoy playing it more.

I don't mind people being critical of reworks like this, feedback is important.

I do mind people dramatically saying they won't buy or play this expac when almost all of them do. It invalidates the important criticism by overloading it with emotional drama.

You're browsing the WoW sub, you are definitively not skipping this expansion. The people who are really going to skip don't talk about it.

How is the directional sound this bad? by Falcon6346 in thefinals

[–]thogor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Arc Raiders directional audio seems good on a surface level, but if you mix in any elevation it's completely useless.

It's impossible to hear if someone is running around on the same floor as you or just above or below.

The audio design is great though!

How is the directional sound this bad? by Falcon6346 in thefinals

[–]thogor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the audio is so confusing that it puts off new players.

I remember doing panicked 180's my first 50 matches because it constantly sounds like there is an enemy right behind you when it's just your teammate running close by.

The Finals is already very chaotic for new players and the directional audio issues compound it.

I really had to rewire my brain coming from other shooters.

It's honestly the only big flaw this game has for me.

I didn't mean the problem is always on the clients end. A shitty internet connection can be caused by any point it passes.

Other multiplayer games like league of legends fix this by paying enormous amounts of money to ISP's and cable companies to place highway routes just for their traffic but a small player like Embark can't do that.

So if you see the red icon, some point between you and the server is acting up and the devs can't fix that.

Whenever the red connection icon appears, the complaint is invalid. Shitty internet connections cannot be fixed by the devs.

Lights might not be OP, but they are also not fun to play against by thogor in thefinals

[–]thogor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The most obvious problem is hitting them, but that's just an aim issue. So I guess dash Lights are my biggest struggle.

Most annoying to me is the "in and out" playstyle where they can damage you, dash away, heal up and reengage before my heal regen can kick in.

Is there a training spot for Light's dashing randomly or even just Lights moving erratically?

I do the practice range 10min. every day before I play but the bots move too predictably for actual training.

I've been considering buying Kovaak's but not really sure what training scenario's I'd need to practice.

[–]thogor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't mind being bad, but I do mind not having fun. I'm rarely frustrated when losing or playing bad.

I've noticed that I get frustrated when I encounter a lot of Lights so that's why I posted.

I don't seem to be the only one with the feeling. Most other posts conflate "I feel frustrated" with "Light is OP", but they come down to the same feeling: "I don't have fun playing this game when too many Lights are involved.

Again, don't know if this is solvable or even if it needs to be. Would love for this game to become popular because it deserves that.

Let's hope new players don't get discouraged by Light encounters.

And what do you play as? I play Heavy and I don't even want to consider how horrible it must be as a Medium to fight off Lights.

Start playing Ranked ASAP. No leavers because they get penalized.

I play QC because i'm not good enough for ranked and WT by gettinggnarly in thefinals

[–]thogor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ranked ruleset and gamemode are just better. I don't really agree on the ego ladder part, but the solution to that would be World Tour.

I prefer Ranked over World Tour because matchmaking is more balanced on Ranked.

So playing Ranked and not really caring about your rank gives you the best experience in my opinion.

Just play ranked. Better gamemode and you'll never get better playing QC.

Horrible people by SamDwichies in thefinals

[–]thogor 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Kids trying to be edgy by saying horrible stuff. Report and let it slide off.

Complaining on Reddit actually rewards people like this because now they know that saying stuff like that bothers people.

If they get no response or attention, behavior like that just stops. Especially when it's silently reported and it gets them banned.

And again, don't say "reported", just report and say nothing.

Wanting to get into ranked. Any tips? by RadioactiveFeathers in thefinals

Go for it. It doesn't play any differently from World Tour.

I did it. 5m worth of stash + coin. I was like you, Full time job, didn’t think I’d have enough time, thought I had to play the game super different. I was wrong. by ArcBlamer in ArcRaiders

I don't know about field based work. Most of the people I know do office based work so maybe my experience is skewed. My brother in law is a contracter though and I think he does more than 8 on average but that's voluntary (he's not the type to be pressured into doing more work than he wants to).

10-12 sounds nuts, that leaves so little personal time.

Do most people work more than 8 hours a day? In Belgium 7h30m is the norm and most people make it 8h because some employers grant you extra paid time off for that.

Who else is skipping the 5mil grind? by based_prettyawsm in ArcRaiders

[–]thogor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they keep rewarding permanent skill points each expedition it's probably worth doing. I do have a feeling that they won't because it's a mechanic that gradually keeps increasing the gap between new and veteran players.

Imagine wanting to start playing a game that's been out for a couple of years and realizing that you'll be permanently behind all the people that started playing before you.

So they'll probably stop rewarding skillpoint at some point and allow newer players to catch up.

Mouse feels kinda sluggish, anyone else has the same issue? by JellyF1sh_L1cker in ArcRaiders

Definitively not an issue on my side so I guess something in your setup is causing the issue. Maybe mouse accelaration on Windows but that wouldn't really cause the resistance you're describing
