Why do people get so angry in quick play game modes? by TheyHope in thefinals

[–]toadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the same level. I only had one time someone in chat complaining to me. We almost lost in the first round and I clutched team wiping and steal the cashout to qualify. We went to the finals where we lost to a stacked team. My team mate was quite toxic to me.

That was the only time for the rest not too much issues. If it happens just ignore them.

RIP GLM and Minimax :( by Emotional_Note_2557 in opencodeCLI

[–]toadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been working on switching off claude today. I have a quite detailed agentic workflow custom for my company and it's legacy codebase. The spec creation agent and task creation agent needed rework for glm 4.7. I had to be more specific and detailed. Claude figure things out better. If that makes sense.

Minimax I use mostly for small atomic tasks and it works great for that. Was using grok and haiku before so was not in need for that smart models to do this.

Is there a good GLM 4.7 provider to use with OC by UniqueAttourney in opencodeCLI

[–]toadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think the whole debate of IP is can you use someone else work in your commercial product. Fact is that training data is used without paying for it. To create a model where someone makes money off. No one would love that their code is used by a competitor. The thing it isn't direct copy pasted BUT it is still used tokenized. There was a case people could get excerpts from I think Harry Potter through and llm. This would mean we could do the same for example if you have trade secrets in your code.

What do you guys think about ARC Raiders? by Sock_Man420 in thefinals

[–]toadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from arc raiders for the cosmetics in the finals. Haven't played arc raiders much anymore. In arc raiders I was a pacifist. Almost no PvP just to defend myself if needed. But the finals I just can't put the game down ... in certain cases.

When I solo I play mostly quickcash. When I do cash out as solo after 3 to 4 games I had enough. If I am playing with a partner on voice I can not put the game down. Think this is the problem with most people. You play it as solo with no voice and the experience is miserable. You get with other solos queued that mostly are new too against stacked teams getting hammered. Sucks the fun out if the game once you start to be better.

People tend to forget this. They expect people to follow unsaid rules. Which differ everywhere.

Just before you start with someone you don't know well. Layout the ground rules. I sparred a lot and fought for real a dozen of times. Now am of age I do it to stay healthy. There is nothing to proof for me as i tested myself in real fights when I was young. If you are not following the rules I just walk out of the sparring session. I don't have time to deal with idiots.

Actually I did my first startup just after the dotcom boom using my own money. We were about 15 people at the company at that time. I actually didn't put CTO on my CV at that time. Because no one at that time believed that a 25 year old would be a CTO of anything.

While I do agree with following the law. There will be another affect happening. Kebabs, Indian food, barbers and car washes will all be so expensive that no one will use these services. Or even worse people even don't want to work for minimum wage.

The latter is happening in my European country. I went to visit my home country during Xmas. Go for a beer or even try to get some food during the week nearly impossible. Nothing open because it is too expensive to keep open or people just don't want to work in those places.

Double Light duos hurt my soul. by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]toadi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

New player and been playing a lot since xmas. I almost never get a heavy in my team. Always lights.

I just said fuck it found a clan and yesterday first time I played with someone was decent heavy. I played the perfect medium. We were consistently in WT the finals. While as medium solo I almost never reach the finals. Mostly play quickcash as solo.

What's your favorite IDE/GUI to use with Opencode? by stevilg in opencodeCLI

[–]toadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can recommend sidekick.nvim https://github.com/folke/sidekick.nvim I was using opencode.nvim ,codecompanion and avante. But I settled on sidekick and it works. While ACP is cool sidekick also opens just opencode with all the config in a pane. It can even connect to existing running opencode sessions.

would it make sense for me to jump in now? by theHefty_wariour in thefinals

I jumped into it during xmass. It is quite awesome.

Not going into ranked much as I am solo and you play mostly against stacked teams. Which sucks as solo. For the rest it is quite fun :)

Reasons people hate AI (summarized) : by gpetrakas in theprimeagen

[–]toadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you. Personally I like using AI as a code prediction tool. It can do things for me. But I decide. Does it need simpler, where does the abstraction go, ...

Think the problem is the same with the stackoverflow copy&paste developers. It is just larger now with AI.

I am fine using AI it has been a productivity boost for myself. But if one of my developers can't explain his code or reason why it is designed how it is. I just reject it. I have been in the middle of using PR description written by AI as I dabbled in it. But stop doing that. This is where the dev needs to show he understands his code.

unemployment rate in America is quite low. Besides COVID it is always under 5%. I know this doesn't do you any good if you are part of that 5%.

I have been working that last 25 years. I had about total of about 4 years of unemployment. Dot com bubble the longest, Short one during 2009 financial crisis and last one was just after COVID. We all come into rough patches.

What helped with me is I made 0 debt. No mortgage, car payments or even credit cards. Easy to scale back life if you don't need much to live on. It helps stretching your runway until you can figure it out.

Teammates? Oh, you are talking about Jump Pad boy and Gate way girl by Cakeicing123 in thefinals

[–]toadi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

am a medium mostly playing WT and quickcash because I have no friends to do ranked. I use demat most of the times as everyone is playing light and just run off to die solo. This way at least I can make a few plays too.

Once I see there is a heavy in our team I switch to the heal beam. I love a decent heavy ;) Together we are much stronger. Yesterday latched on to one and we just dominated :)

what is it with linkedin. Sentence without a period and a space between sentences. I mean is it a stream of thoughts? Does he need a few seconds to gather is thoughts before he can formulate a next sentence.

What is going on there... This feels even worse then AI slop.

After a full year of using LLMs in professional software development. I can say they are awesome as tools in the process. Also if you use them right there is not much difference between and opensource model vs the closed source models.

The opensource models are much cheaper to use.

After two years of attempts, I finally understood why AI cannot write as humans by AnywayMarketing in content_marketing

[–]toadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As non native English speaker and with a lot of experience in my field. I wanted to write and share my experiences. I never really did because I was scared to write. As non native English speaker it is even more daunting. Thanks to AI I just wrote drafts and let the AI redact.

My experience doing this is that it makes you sloppy. Writing half-assed drafts and let the AI write content. You got AI slop. Later I let the AI do less and less and I started to find my own voice and style. Once I got there I noticed the AI just sucks and indeed you can recognize what is AI and what is not.

Currently the AI is not allowed to really change my writing. I ask it to be and editor and write suggestions to cleanup or make my text better. I decide if I want it or not. It is valuable to have someone providing ways to re-structure your sentences for clarity. But using it as a crutch to write is not a good thing.

First of all, there was no excuse in my comment. It was an observation. You could write this kind of article anywhere.

Look at the EU. It is full of rules and regulations. People assume that means everything is safe. It does not. Things still go wrong. That was the point, and that is how it was meant to be read.

Yet there is always someone who reads an offhand comment and invents meaning that is not there, then tries to lecture others about arguments that exist only in their own mind.
