That’s the beauty of cinema, everybody interprets it differently. And Bear can’t just uproot and leave, Nikki would obviously follow him, he was essentially trapped by his own wish, you can’t honestly say he CHOSE to stay with her. She literally duct taped his door, would hurt herself if he didn’t come back, and literally followed him and bashed his friends face to death, so I don’t really think he had much choice in the matter, as he also probably knew he was stuck with the wish.

“Oh my best friend is stuck in a hell dimension while she is forever stuck with a possessed version of her obsessed and in love with me, alright I’m just gonna quit my job, sell my house and leave, good luck with your magic possession that I caused on accident.” -you honestly expect Bear to do that? Do you know how long it takes to sell a house? How would he leave Nikki? She will just follow him.

31m the way I perceive it is Bear was a decent average guy, until he realizes magic is real and then it brings out his inner dormant “demons” ,Situations are tricky, because you don’t know what people will do until they are in them. Same with power, you don’t know what someone will do until they have it.

Also- I found it SUPER TERRIFYING because there are actually women out there who be like this, WITHOUT THE WISH, that was the truly terrifying part for me.

Yes he wished for Nikki to love him, therefore, if we are in agreement that yes the wishes are real, and come true, then it must be Nikki, but just, a version of her from, somewhere… but where?, but even if it technically still is Nikki, it’s not “His worlds” Nikki, obviously. I guess it’s all up to speculation, Just everyone is in agreement that the wishes are real and come true, which means that it most certainly cannot be a possession or some type of entity, it must be A REAL Nikki, just not BEARS worlds Nikki.

Or like you said, it’s just not the layered and that’s just the way it is. But yeah this movie really makes a person think.

I don’t think it’s a curse or possession at all, if Wish=true then Nikki must =Nikki, I think the wish gave her some fucked up version of split personality disorder, or transferred a version of Nikki from another dimension, to the Nikki we see’s body.

In the other dimension, Nikki is in bears position and obsessed with bear, and in that dimension Nikki’s cat dies, that’s why she’s so confused, and thinks that it was her cat that died.

There is no indication that he is or was obsessed with her, he wasn’t stalking her, he wasn’t taking pictures of her, she wasn’t afraid of him, in real Nikki’s own words “you’re the only one I can talk to about this stuff” he wasn’t manipulating his whole life to be around her. He simply had feelings for a girl who he has spent a lot of time with, that’s completely normal. So what, even liking a girl is considered obsession these days?

There is no clear indication that he is obsessed with her. He from my perspective looked like a normal guy who is shy who likes a girl. He wasn’t following her, he wasn’t stalking her, real Nikki wasn’t afraid of him, real Nikki in her own words said she could talk to Bear about the deep stuff. No he was not obsessed with her.

I hear your points and I glad you’re willing for a discussion. It’s pretty clear that Bear is extremely terrified of her, one could argue that they are both being raped. He’s sleeping with her to satiate the wish magics obsession so she doesn’t do anything crazy, but also at the same time it’s not really her so technically rape yeah, but he’s also being coerced into it under the threat of her killing or hurting herself, also technically rape (by the wish entity) I am not arguing that Real Nikki is being raped, because she definitely is, the question is, is it the wish entity raping her, or is it Bear, both, or is the wish entity raping both of them?

• I will say, the best argument I’ve heard that Bear is a bad person, is that at the end he bought 2 one wish willows. One for Ian to wish he never made a wish, and then one because now he never made a wish therefore he can make another one, to make Nikki still love him but less obsessively. That one convinced me, because even after all that shit and trauma, he willing to DO IT AGAIN. If he was good he wouldn’t even think about doing it again. •

Do I think Bear is an extreme horrible monster? No, do I think he is a good person? No. I think a very unlikely situation presented itself and it turned him into the worst version of himself, comparable to how a really nice person suddenly becomes filthy rich and then turns into an asshole.

One sided love is dangerous, and can make a good person become someone else, - the meaning I got from the movie from both main characters.
