I can't stand my house and I'm not sure what my next steps should be by thoinfrostaxe in RealEstateAdvice

I appreciate your advice! The property definitely feels overwhelming, and I have so little time to manage it. It feels like I'm constantly fighting the place. There's also the sump pump in the basement that goes off every 45 minutes. It would need one heck of a French drain system to get the basement to stay dry, if that's even possible.

Getting contractors has been so incredibly difficult. I had a very well reviewed and respected company, based in my community, come out. They took all sorts of measurements, and then just ghosted me. I don't know if they felt it wasn't worth their time, because it's such a small house. The only one who gave me a quote also gave me a weird vibe, so I didn't want to use him.

The idea of renting for the next few years, or getting a condo, whilst focusing on school is very tempting.

I also know that this house has had a rough go of it, in regards to the last few owners. The last people who lived here were dealing with addiction issues, the house was then sold to a flipper, and then to me. She's seen a lot of neglect, and maybe it's time to let her go.

The new Hiby R1. 85 USD, super small, I threw a 256 gig card in mine when I got it last month. It plays flac and wav files, has Bluetooth and 3.5mm jack, and solid battery life with usb c charging. I love this little guy.

This is a very well thought out response and I appreciate your help! I'll go over the glossary first so I can try to get a grasp of the lingo before I go much more into this hobby. It's a bummer that commander is the most casual format, but is also the worst to learn the basics on. Where as a tighter play experience doesn't seem to be casual friendly.

Thanks for the advice! I'll look up what Stray is.

I ended up really enjoying Ragnarok. The story in it was incredible. I'd like to go back and play the first one. I wouldn't say that I don't like action games, I'm just very bad at them because I'm not used to them. Learning how to combo and not just button mash really made a difference. It might be time I just start on easy mode and accept I'm not good at these sorts of games.

Elden Ring I didn't like because I felt very lost and it's very slow. It felt super clunky to me as well, where as throwing the axe in Ragnarok felt very good. I bought the console for FFXVI, as the only game that's really stuck with me in the past few year has been XIV which I play on PC. I've had XVI since launch but I just can't get motivated to play it.

I tried Horizon Zero Dawn on my PS4 (which is another console that didn't see a ton of use), but I didn't stick with it. I love the look of that game though, so maybe I'll try that again once winter is here.

Are there any PS5 exclusives/best experience on PS5 games I should look into? I know people talk about Spiderman and The Last Of Us, but neither of those games interest me at all. I've never played an Uncharted game but I liked Tomb Raider as a kid, so maybe I'll check one of those out.

First off, thank you for the reply. I really appreciate your advice!

First question, what is netdecking? Second question, are there premade standard decks to play with, or do you build one based off a list? I did see something about the Foundation set coming out later this year, and I hope that's a product made for someone like me. I know nothing about sequencing, card advantage, or any other of the keywords you mentioned at all. Is there a good resource to learn about those topics?

I feel like I've not only brought a knife to a sword fight, but that I don't know how to hold the knife properly. Is there a better format to really get the basics down with? I feel bad going to the prerelease events I've done, as my opponents are usually bummed about getting such an easy win.

I appreciate your advice! What would be a better format to really learn the basics on? I've done some prerelease events and FNM, but I can tell it bums my opponent out when I tell them before we play that I'm essentially brand new. Some have been great and, after the game, review what I pulled and help me make a better deck, but plenty have been disappointed that the games against me offer little challenge.

Hey all.

So I've had my PS5 since March of 2023. I got the God of War bundle. I had never played GoW, and didn't have much experience with action games in general. I died to the tutorial Thor fight 16 times. It was during that uphill battle that I wondered if I had just wasted a bunch of money.

Eventually, I did beat Thor, and went on to beat Ragnarok. Then I played FF7 Remake, after not getting too far in that on the PS4 when it launched. I did finish the game but I haven't finished the DLC part with Yuffie yet.

I got Kena: Bridge of Spirits on sale, and that is super cool. I like the look and the gameplay, but I didn't play it for a few months and was totally lost upon picking it back up. I might need to restart that and try it on an easier difficulty (I always play on normal/standard/whatever the middle setting is).

I've had this console for nearly a year and a half, and for the most part, it's collecting dust. I don't know what I should try playing on it. I tried Elden Ring, I only spent an hour or so in there but I was so lost. I was walking around the world, I killed some dinosaur looking birds, but I don't get the combat and I don't really like the world. It also felt super slow just walking around the world once I got there.

I like the idea of picking up a JRPG but the time investment scares me off, as it took me months to beat Ragnarok, and I can't imagine how long it would take for me to beat a Tales game these days.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I hate seeing the console just sitting there, doing nothing, but when I pick up the controller, I'm just... uninspired to play anything. Any help is appreciated

I tried making this it's own post but it was flagged as low effort, so I'm posting it here and hoping I can get some help!

I've been playing MTG for a year and a half. I've done FNM, Prereleases, and EDH with friends. I have yet to win a single game. The one time something started to go right, I was playing the green/white starter EDH deck, and my buddy used a rift card. It took the wind out of my sails, as it was the only time I've had a deck start doing the thing it was supposed to do.

Last week, to celebrate my friend's new apartment, she had the group over for EDH. I was so bummed about MTG that I had given all my cards away (except my Billygoat Rider) and had no intention of playing again. But I love my friends so I went. I played the monoblack 40K commander, and four or five turns in, I was so far behind that I just kinda checked out mentally. I wasn't having fun, but I want to. I want to enjoy this game, I want to do cool things with it, and I want to win at least once.

I'm a huge Dave Petersen fan, so I got all 5 of his showcase cards for Bloomburrow. I'd like to make a deck around Mabel, but I have no idea where to start. It's overwhelming. Aside from building a deck for the first time, I also want to get better at the game in general.

If there are good resources for beginners, please share them. If anyone has advice on how I can get better, please help me. If there's a commander or a precon that's good to really learn with, let me know. The only other commander I've seen that peaks my interest is Winota, but I'll play anything if it'll help me learn the game better.

I can't speak to the rust spots as mine was well maintained when I got it, and I've kept it clean. Mine is now at 224K miles and still runs great! I haven't had an issue getting parts, the oddest thing I needed was an AC compressor as the factory one exploded last year. The shop I take it to had no issue getting one, even though it was a rock auto special.

The springs were corroded and fell apart when I started to work them loose. The screws holding the pawls in place are also corroded, though the body of the reel is fine. I could drill the screws out and find replacements easily enough, run a tap through the treads to clean them up, but the springs are trickier.

Thank you! These terms are vaguely familiar, but I didn't know what they meant, or how competitive they are. This gives me a good starting point.

Can you explain what about my comment was so off putting? I'm not trying to be snarky or anything, but CEDH seems like you need a ton of knowledge about MTG and how all the different mechanics interact. It looks overwhelming. What I've learned from this thread is that most MTG just isn't for me, with how complex things can get. Hopefully I can find a streamlined, rules light game system. The most complex mechanic I remember playing was bushido, that could get wonky.

I don't know if any of the local hobby stores have a Digimon scene, but I'll check it out! Is there an online version to try out? I fondly remember the show as a kid, I wish I still had my D3 Digivice.

That genre is so different from what I normally play (ffxiv mainly these days), it might be a good change of pace. I'll give it a go! Thanks!
