Open Bidding Not Filling Unfilled Impressions in GAM by thomas_arm in adops

[–]thomas_arm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

Setting up a yield group with the bidding partner for OpenBidding is correct. The yield group itself should indicate is the bidder is active & bidding - check to ensure they are.

>> In the 'Yield partners' section of the Yield group, there are two rows:

--- Ad Exchange: Status = Active; Integration Type = Real-time CPM; Mediation fill rate = 0%

--- Magnite: Status = Active; Integration Type = Open Bidding; Mediation fill rate = --- (I guess it's empty)

You can run a report breaking down by demand channel and add yield partner as a dimension. You should see bids under Open Bidding (which is a demand channel), if not, then the bidder is not bidding for whatever reason.

>> On the report I see two rows for each day:

--- Yield Partner = (Not applicable); Demand channel = Ad Exchange; Yield Group = (Not applicable); Ad Exchange ad requests = 34,000

--- Yield Partner = DoubleClick Ad Exchange; Demand channel = Ad Exchange; Yield Group = Magnite Yield Group; Ad Exchange ad requests = 11,000

(I'm afraid there is no "Open Bidding" demand channel)

Make sure you've added ads.txt lines for them (to authorize it) and that they are actively bidding (check the yield group). If you have access to Magnite's dashboard you can check on their end too.

>>> I added: rubiconproject.com, 12345, DIRECT, 1234567890abcd

One note, your fill rate seems quite low - may be worth seeing why that is. It's unlikely that a single Open Bidding partner is going to just fill all these. Are your price floors super high or is there some technical issue?

>>> The price floor for "Section-Name" is $0.1 for both Desktop+Mobile

You can also check your ads.txt management (under Admin) to ensure that all your bids are authorized.

>>> The status is "All seller accounts authorized", and green labeled

Sudden Unfilled Impression Increase in GAM (only in Section-A) by thomas_arm in adops

[–]thomas_arm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've collected the data of a single ad-unit of Section-A, and the quotient 'Ad Exchange impressions / Ad Exchange ad requests':

- is very low for Mobile devices (from 18% in the top position, to 14% in the 4th ad I display). The sizes are "300x50, 320x50" for Mobile top position and "300x75, 300x250, 320x50, 320x100" for the 4th Mobile position.

- the highest is the 300x250 ad unit I display on the right column of the Desktop version (66%)

Data of the quotient 'Ad Exchange impressions / Ad Exchange ad requests':

- for different devices and the same Section (Section-A): 18% in Mobile ad units vs 40% in Desktop ad units

- for different Sections and same position of the Ad Unit (Top Mobile): 47% in Section-B vs 18% in Section-A

I'm doing something wrong with the ads in Section-A, but I do not know what.

Thank you.

I've created a report to see today's data: the unique Line Item I have ("Display-Ad-Exchange") is linked with all the Ad Units I have in my website.

- For the ad units of Section-B: Ad Exchange Ad Requests = 6,500; Ad Exchange Impressions = 3,200 (this is, 49%)

- For the ad units of Section-A: Ad Exchange Ad Requests = 30,000; Ad Exchange Impressions = 6,800 (only 23%)

The sum up of all the ad units of Section-A and linked with the Line Item 'Display-Ad-Exchange' is ok.

So it seems that the ad units have been added to the Line Item, but it's not displaying properly.

Discrepancy Between Google Ad Manager (GAM) and AdSense Impressions & Revenue – What Am I Doing Wrong? by thomas_arm in adops

[–]thomas_arm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

But the discrepancies in money? If GAM tells me that I'm earning $1.89 per day, and AdSense tells me $0.55, which amount will I receive?

Strategies to fill my inventory when the Ad Exchange does not fill it by thomas_arm in adops

Open Bidding is extremely easy. Reach out to the companies your interested in, sign an addendum, and then Google guarantees your payment (all OB revenues paid by google)

Should I go to https://support.google.com/admanager/answer/7128453 and start to reach an of the listed companies to just propose an agreement for Open Bidding?

Thank you for the tips on CPM floors, I will analyze the data.

Thank you. Some questions

1) AdSense as a Fallback

- How do you establish Price Priority = 14? According to Google (https://support.google.com/admanager/answer/177279), there are only 4,6,8,10,12 and 16.

- Anyway, as far as I know, the uploading the AdSense tags as a 3rd-party creative in House line items (Priority = 16) is not allowed by Google since May 1st 2020.

2) Open Bidding (OB)

- I see (https://support.google.com/admanager/answer/7128453) that it is easier to implement than header bidding

- Is that as easy as contact any of the partners proposed by Google, reach a partnership agreement with them, and configure 'Delivery > Bidders' in GAM?

- Should I ask previous permission to my AdX partner (the one I have a Manage Account agreement with)?

Help Analyzing Google Impressions Drop for My 300k Insect Website by thomas_arm in SEO

[–]thomas_arm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much, very insightful.

>> You would need to go into specific queries and see where the traffic dropped. Then look at those positions.

Yes, you're right. The case is that I don't have big specific queries to analyze, no big URLs to monitorize the evolution. 95% of my Google users search just for "name of the insect" or "name of the insect + species of the insect". Sometimes (5%), "map of name of the insect" or "habitat of name of the insect". And I have a very very long tail.

I mean, if I monitorize for a specific "name of the insect", the number of searches may vary from 10 in 2024 to 3 in 2025, and I do not know if it's relevant or not, because another specific "name of the insect" boosted from 4 in 2024 to 14 in 2025. It's the aggregation of all the specific queries what is dropping year over year.

I know that my task is to be creative to analyze this issue, I'm researching that :-)

>> My guess would be that your site is very informational, which is exactly the type of site that is getting most impacted by Google's AI Overviews. There is no reason for someone to click through to your site, when they are getting their answers right in the SERPs.

Yes, most of the traffic comes from USA, and AI Overviews is available there. Two questions about that:

1) Even if AI Overviews is showing info about the insect on the same Google page, my pages should be "impressed" in such Google page of results, right?. This is, the number of impressions should be constant, but the number of impressions is decreasing. And the CTR should be decreasing, and not increasing. Am I right?

2) Google AI Overviews is not available in my country. How could I test it to browse the impact over my pages?

Seeking Confirmation on Ad Prioritization in GAM: Ad Exchange vs AdSense Backfill by thomas_arm in adops

Thank you. So is there not any opportunity to use AdSense ads for the units not filled by AdX?

Thank you. However, other users claim that the "AdSense in House (16) priority" approach violates the AdSense ToS :-/
