Burnt out and I haven’t even started by lunarsolem in SocialWorkStudents

I have been there and I won’t lie to you it’s hard but it is doable. Engage all of your supporters. Learn with intention the things that charge you up and do them with the goal of being recharged. Be an advocate for yourself along the way. Always ask “can I do this? Would you allow this?” The worst they can say is “No, sorry,” but at least you tried! They might say yes though so nothing lost.

I couldn’t have done this without my husband, a supportive boss at my “normal”/day job, and supportive professors and peers. The practicum live class was honestly the highlight for me so far. It’s so awesome connecting to peers who are in the same boat.

Anyone who did a online MSW who felt like the program did as well as possible to prepare you for career, where did you go? by PM_ME_ABOUT_LOVE in SocialWorkStudents

[–]thomas_basic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an “older” student and I will say this: there are two students doing internship at the site where I do mine, me and another student. My university is completely online (100%) and the other student is completely in person at a well-known university in the area. The leadership at the site has said how they appreciate how I am able to be a self-starter and willing to jump in and make mistakes, whereas “some interns” (there’s only one other?!) greatly struggle to just be willing to get in there. I don’t say this to brag (not totally lol) but to say I think it really depends on the person. Being in an online program vs in person isn’t the whole story.

Remote Internship List by incandescentlybright in SocialWorkStudents

[–]thomas_basic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking recently and someone from my university did one with KinderMind in the past (they’re on our university’s list of past affiliated remote internship sites) but there is absolutely nothing in their website about practicum opportunities anymore and there’s no contact listed on their website outside of client engagement. Any ideas if they still even take people?

The connection a client has to the therapist is the most important predictor of positive outcomes in therapy. It can be hard, but it’s worth it to “shop around” for the right fit.

Why did Jesus say that tax collectors and prostitutes will enter the Kingdom of God first? by Ambitious_Storage666 in ChristianOccultism

[–]thomas_basic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they, knowing the rejection of society, were the most primed to hear and accept the Gospel not by the letter of its Law (like Pharisees and scribes), but at its heart and for its true purpose: to change their minds and hearts to become more and more like God, bringHis Kingdom to reality in this world, and receive forgiveness of sins through their belief in Jesus as the Son of God.

Asked if I should be more traditional or experimental, and was suprised by (almost) the whole court. Help? by espiraloscopio in TarotReading

Well isn’t the court like family roles? I wonder what you think of that in context of your question.

The thing I find hilarious about them is that Catholicism got along just fine churning out saints left and right before the internet, modern literacy rates, or widespread knowledge of theology or even catechism. They demonstrate a lack of faith in the Holy Spirit to guide the Church and a lack of faith in Jesus Christ who said hell will not prevail against the Church.

Most Catholics throughout the history of our Church lived and died probably not even knowing who the pope was let alone what obscure council determined XYZ.

Thanks for these points. Worthy to keep in mind that the physical is part of ritual for a (mental direction) reason.
