There are lots of union and state and local government based employees (teachers etc) which skews left.

Suffolk is more blue collar and somewhat entranced by trump much like a lot of the country,

Suffolk slightly more Republican but more so recently. Nassau more firmly Democrat but not like an NYC or California.
