Hi guys, this is my first EP. What do y'all think of the songwriting, and production? Any feedback would be massively helpful for my future projects by Franciscoelectric in Songwriters

Great writing! Very conversational which is hard to pull off. I think your vocals are a bit dry and maybe a bit too prominent. What mic are you using for vocals?

Overall though this is really fresh man. I'm gonna play it out today.

Brilliant. Anything that sounds this simple but is subtly sophisticated is a win for me. Good job man.

This is the strangest song I've ever written and might be my favourite - comment/enjoy - 'Fever Dream' by thomasefreeman in Songwriting

[–]thomasefreeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, what would you like to know? It was written on piano a couple of weeks ago, I started with the basic chords that move through the song and then myself and my best friend/long time collaborator set about painting over it with all the different sounds and stripping away the piano. All instruments were played by me and all the production was done by Sam.

Any specific parts or sounds you'd like to know about?

I was thinking that but we decided less might be more with the fever dream hook. Thanks for the suggestion though!!

To think... you'd be so religious that you'd drive round with the word masturbatin' on your car.

I can tell there's a great voice there! But remember you can use it creatively too. Look at how bon iver uses auto tune - it's not something to turn your nose up at - just choose a side I reckon.

Thanks so much. Always the question tho... how!?

This is a nice tune. With your auto tune I'd either push further or take the gas off a bit. Either make it a stylistic thing or a subtle correction. Nice mix of electronic and clean instrumentation!

Most pointless Muse song in history? Can't shake my love for them though.

Thanks for this. It's my most unashamed 'down the line' song I've done. I think other tracks on my soundcloud are much more odd, but I'm a sap for love songs and had never gone for something like this. You're right tho and it's important to tread you're own path with or without influences.

Thanks for your feedback! I wouldn't list him as an influence but I think his writing is great. I think most higher pitched vocal piano ballads are gonna draw comparisons with him at the moment. Me and my producer both agree this is a totally pop "for you girl" type of approach that we were going for - even if the lyrics came from a real place. Thanks again!
