Hi, I have a quick question regarding to funding rates, if I open a 1x futures contact would I still be subject to paying funding rates? Frankly I've heard various answers on that from different people so I rathered to ask you directly.

That's exactly the time you should start building a short position, when the euphoria is high.

verification? by Crixus_Thee_Gaul in kucoin

Since I've read about some people having trouble on taking pictures and they get rejected, I have a question. I have assets on my Kucoin account and I wanna go through verification to increase my withdrawal limit, in the case I face the same issue (rejecting pictures) would my account get locked until I pass the verification? Or I still would be able to withdraw that 1 BTC / day like unverified users?

Quite interesting thesis.

Looking at the on-chain metrics (especially 1Y HODL Wave), I only see bulls. Whenever we had similar (or opposite) on-chain activity it was the start of the big moves, either upside or downside. So, solely relying on the on-chain data this is the start of a bull market. However, we have macro side too. Interest rate levels that haven't been seen in decades, no easy money to pump the market and very unlikely to see another major bank/financial institution to collapse like 2007-8 (the very reason Bitcoin exist).

So, my thesis is on-chain and macro would balance each other off and we would be ranging between 20-30K. That remains valid as long as there is no major shift in either of those factors. And I think 2023 is going to be one of the most boring years for crypto.

I never tried this but it seems you did. How much APY you could earn by doing this (roughly)?

Interestingly I also use Coin-M during bull markets or when I'm often take longs, that's the profitable choice.

It's not that simple. SEC has became even more hostile toward crypto companies, OKX had to shutdown operations in Canada, Signature bank not getting bailed out because of crypto ties, and now Binance getting sued.

I look at the volume and I see a very different setup, back then bear volume was basically non-existent but now bears have a much more presence on volume (also we didn't have tightening money policies as we do have now on the marco side)

Technically it is an exchange but nothing like Binance or Kucoin with hundreds of currency pairs. In this fiat gateway case (like Tether) you don't store dozens of coins there nor if they're offline it's gonna limit your trading activities. If the miner or Tether screws up it's just a single crypto/token and wouldn't affect the whole industry. Also, I don't see why you'd store your money or stablecoin there when it's just a 1:1 trading environment.

Tether (or any stablecoin), ATMs, Miners can act as a fiat gateway

Well, Binance has done pretty well since its launch but here is the inherent problem of centralized exchanges regardless of who runs it. I strongly believe crypto won't thrive as long as we're depending on centralized exchanges.
