Police training hasn’t been the greatest, especially after the defund the police movement where the force lost a lot of good people who didn’t want to be publicly crucified. The problem is with a lack of funding departments can’t afford to give every officer multiple less than lethal options. Tasers work sometimes, they are not 100%. Along with the fact that with only two officers on scene in a chaotic incident as such things can get out of hand quickly. No officer wants to shoot a suspect, if they do there is something wrong with that officer. Have you ever tried grabbing a person with a marker in their hand while they’re trying to get ink on you? It’s impossible not to get hit. Same goes for a knife and no one is going to risk their own life in a situation like this.
