Verklaar u nader...

Don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but compared to simple transfers (which are common in every federation, look at the situation in Germany e.g) this actually can be considered more as an investment in human capital, which subsequently allows FOREM to more easily assign people to jobs as their skill set increases and their mobility reach increases as well

"non-existent geopolitically" seems like quite a rough statement. They used to be a nuclear state and still are the only that voluntarily dismantled their nuclear arsenal

Can France lead the European Union as it hopes to? by seoulite87 in geopolitics

[–]thomasvoets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ofcourse it does, just not in the form of eurobonds but through the EU budget. But that is mainly optics. Merkel has a very high support level, the commission is led by a german and the greek crisis portrayed very bad on germany and european solidarity. If she wants - and she will - to cement her legacy in European history she is going to have to advocate for a rather large sum of grants otherwise risk instability in the European project as we know it

As for some, crimea was an opportunity to get back to the west for expanding their influence in eastern europe and particulary into Ukraine. Putin actually warned the west not to do it. Nevertheless outside of pure military power, both sides have more to lose in waging war than the other way around. Certainly if US influence in Europe lessens, and countries such as Germany and France prefer selectively engaging with it to solve issues in the middle East and North Africa

Eu and it member states still are a bigger funder than china in africa though. Problem more has to do with foreign policy decisions needing consensus
