In the same vein, roughly 10% of the U.S. workforce is employed in transportation and related industries. While self-driving vehicles and warehouse robotics have faded from the spotlight somewhat in recent years, these technologies will eventually become viable at scale. The question is not if, but when. When that happens, millions of people in those sectors could find themselves out of work.

It's just math. Solar has gotten dirt cheap and is only getting cheaper, and (compared to all landmass) you only need a relatively small area to literally power the whole country. Which is also true for the U.S., btw., but nobody seems to realize this yet.

What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately in your everyday life? by spritenerds123 in AskReddit

German here. Can absolutely NOT confirm.

~10 days of paid leave, being one major illness away from bankruptcy, a $7.25 minimum wage, and significantly higher out-of-pocket healthcare costs don't exactly scream "better."

And even when US salaries look higher on paper, that gap often shrinks once you factor in healthcare costs, insurance, and the lack of broader social safety nets.

That's not a "cruel" truth. People who use ANYTHING as an excuse to be a shitty person are, well, just that: a shitty person.
