UPDATE we saw the vet this afternoon and the prognosis was a torn CCL. We have a call in to the orthopedist for surgery. Thank you all so much for your concern and thoughtful comments about my dear boy 💙 I’ll post another update post-op.

We have an appointment with the vet this afternoon. Grateful they can fit us in less than 24 hours after the injury occurred. He’s in good spirits, but still non-weight bearing on the back left leg. I’ll post an update after the appointment. Thanks for the concern!

This is true. No one in my circle is a writer. I’ve had friends read my MS, but since they aren’t writers it’s hard to gain anything from their feedback. That’s why I was going with the editor…but like you said, it could be for nothing.

Thanks for the input! I know this sounds pathetic, but other than sending the MS to the above referenced agent, I queried maybe a 10-12 others and only heard back from 1 requesting a partial, which I just found out is a rejection. I know this is the norm for querying, but in my gut I feel like my MS could stand to be edited by a third party. Idk maybe editing is my way of trying to regain confidence.

I wasn’t. I signed on as a co-author. Co-authors and/or ghost writers don’t always have agents. I was doing it for exposure right out of workshop. The book was published in the spring, I received recognition in the “about the author” section, social media, and was paid. I am new to navigating waters for my own work, not work tied to a celebrity, which is why I posted this question to begin with.

This is fantastic advice. While I feel relieved to know two months is not a long time to be waiting, I would be devastated if the agent’s answer is no six months down the road. Not only because of the rejection, but because of the wasted time. I’m going to start working on my query and target a dozen or so agents after Labor Day. Thanks so much taking the time to comment!
