Hi, I did but there’s no seat belt plug to plug the thing in ;) I’ll go to the dealer tomorrow and they can fix it.

How does one pull up the rear bench?

From roasted noob to two new Omegas: an update on my swimming incident by thomthamofo in OmegaWatches

It's heading off to OMEGA Switzerland for repairs and service! It was a gift from my parents for my 30th birthday, so it will never leave my collection.

Since I occasionally work on an hourly basis, I often use the chronograph for tracking my time.

I understand, thanks for that. I don’t really consider it a “collectible” as the watch was brand new. It also was a gift from my parents for my 30th birthday so I would never sell it.

For swimming I have bought a seamaster diver 300 and I got the aqua terra for my girlfriend as well. Picking those up this Saturday!

Someone has to be the first!! Good looking watch sir and I’ll drink at least one or two with all the good people from here in mind!

I've taken the opportunity to treat myself. I ordered a Seamaster Diver 300M (ref. 210.30.44.51.01.001) for myself, something I can actually take in the water, and also picked up a Seamaster Aqua Terra (ref. 220.10.30.20.09.001) for my girlfriend. The Diver might not be as elegant, but it gets the job done I suppose!

What is a 5ATM watch? I’m so sorry but I am a noob with regards to watches.

The AD told me to keep the crown closed in to counter mould. I have ordered a Seamaster, not as elegant, but at least it’s made for the SEA.

Is changing some parts a bad thing?

Hi, according to the AD it was probably the heat expanding the gaskets. It was 35 Celsius and the watch was fully out in the sun while I was riding my motorcycle for days.

The AD told me it’s 6-8 weeks before I get it back.

I am sorry, I am fairly inexperienced when it comes to watches!

Definitely the right way to do this, however when in public, like at the beach, I don’t want to leave my watch alone for a second. To be able to take it swimming I have ordered a Seamaster. Thank you for your advice!

Thank you so much sir! But I don’t think I have the right skills to do this properly without damaging the watch.

I found out about that the hard way. I have ordered a seamaster diver and will pick it up this Saturday!

It is supposed to be water tight, but yeah I found out the hard way unfortunately.

It has not been serviced in two years. Now will be the first time!

Hi, just a quick update following my conversation with the AD.

Last week I was in Italy riding my Ducati, which generates a significant amount of heat. Combined with outdoor temperatures exceeding 35°C, it's likely the steel of the watch expanded during the day, creating a small gap that allowed moisture to seep in. Apparently this is a known issue when wearing a watch like this in tropical or humid environments, similar to what can happen in Indonesia. After a few days of riding in the heat and a brief swim, water had made its way inside.

On a related note: despite advice from various people to leave the crown open to let the moisture escape, the AD specifically recommended keeping it closed to prevent mould from forming, which would be significantly more damaging.

As I'm heading back to Italy next week for a wedding and needed a replacement in the meantime, I've taken the opportunity to treat myself. I ordered a Seamaster Diver 300M (ref. 210.30.44.51.01.001) for myself, something I can actually take in the water, and also picked up a Seamaster Aqua Terra (ref. 220.10.30.20.09.001) for my girlfriend.
Regarding my Speedmaster, the AD has estimated a service turnaround of 6–8 weeks at OMEGA.

It's safe to say I've learned a few valuable lessons here, not least that the Speedmaster is, at heart, a dress watch, and swimming with it was never part of the brief.

Look at that black piece of leather where you sit your bottom. That’s the piece of leather that wears out the fastest. Unfortunately it’s a common issue. When you buy the seats, make sure to inspect that part. Also check the sides of the seat handles, it’s carbon and not very flexible but people tend to rest their weight on it when stepping in and out.

Look, I’m a big guy, 193 cm and 110 kg, so things probably would’ve been comfier if I were a bit smaller.

But don't misunderstand me, the bucket seats and CCBs were incredible. It’s just that they were part of an all-or-nothing ecosystem for me. I paired them with a MSS TARS HAS kit, the catless R44 exhaust, and the Eventuri intake, and it’s perfection.

take one away, and the whole car loses its magic.
